  • RCD510 Radio aerial Plugs different from RCD500 Help please!

    Hi All,
I've bought one of the Chinese RCD510, works fine.
Would be perfect, with the 9W2 BUT

The aerial connections on the rear of the unit are a (ever so slightly) different configuration to the RCD500.

The RCD510 has the two aerial connections combined (I assume) meant for a single plug.

The RD500 has two separate plugs in the same way, but are much thicker.

Is there a cure for this which is easily effected?
Can the original plugs be shaved on their side to fit, or is there a connection available.
What have others done to meet this challenge?

I'm happy with the unit, it is great and does everything I could possibly want with the facility to play my music from the iPhone, etc.
But no radio makes Jack a dull boy If you know what I mean.

I look forward to finding a solution and all help is gratefully received.

    Cheers,
    Richard

You're better off not taking to the connectors with a stanley knife if it can be avoided, just in case.
    You can buy adapters:

Thanks kamold, I didn't know what the jiggers are called.

For a few dollars I voted with my clicking finger and bought the ebay item. Very tidy solution.
Thanks for the prompt and accurate reply, greatly appreciated.

      Cheers,
      Richard

These are FAKRA connectors. The original is for two separate connectors, whereas the replacement one requires a dual FAKRA connector.

Don't try and force the separate ones into the new unit as this will not work. The retaining peg is offset on the twin unit.

Thanks wai for expanding on kamold's instant response providing a solution.

I spent $14 and bought the correct connector which kamolds link kindly contained.

          Cheers,
          Richard
