On another topic Guys, how easy were tomtom maps to install and how did you get them/do it?

Do you just download them from a site onto SD card then put your SD card into your unit? Both myself and old man are looking at these units for our VW, but i dont like the route 66 at all, after using garmin for the past 18months, i cant handle that route 66 thing.

Would appreciate some feedback on this

Litte point Emailing them, they have not answered any emails sent... And I've sent several...

Ebay for $699 gets my vote, TomTom is easy to install on units running WinCE, google is your friend... The reversing camera they are including is really to large for an inconspicious install.. But make your own minds up guys, I just a noob on this site

Where did you fit the cam? Got pics of the install?

I put it just below the number plate. I dont think it looks obtrusive, at least not as obtrusive as reverse sensors.
I will get some pics over the weekend and post thewm up early next week.
The camera was the worst thing to wire up and took more time than fitting up the head unit.

Some bad news with my Mates Aurion model unit....The DVD and CD function doesnt appear to work. The disc only goes in halfway.

He had it professionally installed for around $250 (just labour) so he is ringing the install guys back to see if they tested it before he picked it up.

otherwise back in touch with Austpack i guess, but more cost for un-install and re-install....he wont be too happy if this is the case.

Other than that though he is reasonable pleased...im still throwing up the idea for my Jetta

Thats interesting mate. I wonder if the transit screw has been removed?

I cant find the small piece of paper that came with mine but it does go in the top from memory.
check it out mate, be a bugger to remove it I spose but it has to come out either way.

i feel a bit guilty as i recommend this to him after seeing all the good feedback on the forums, hence looking at ways to help.

The disc goes in about most of the way but then gets spat out automatically, its like it doesnt go all the way in and then down into place.

Anyway will wait to we hear back from Austpack then go from there.

My mate also was waiting for Auspack guy to get back to him about a unit for his Aurion TRD.

He rang him back last week after not picking up for a couple of weeks. Unit arrived here on Monday from Auspack and was installed today.

So im assuming he is back?

His Toyota unit came with route 66 maps...$895 delivered with ipod adaptor reversing camera (which is huge and he bought a smaller one that fits the factory spot) etc etc. So far he is pretty happy with it but needs to play around some more

I can't understand, that if the vendor is back, why he is not responding to phone calls or emails.
I guess he must be making too much money to want new business.

Installers missed the transit screws, unit is now up and running quite well.

Thanks for the pics. Not bad at all. There appears to be a small slot above the number plate for a possible camera inclusion, which I may explore. Of course, I still need to source the screen/system from Auspack.... if they still exist.
