HTC One and Bluetooth

Picked up a HTC One this week, great phone but my car will not find the phone when searching for new device. Anyone else heard of similar issues? I doubt I am the only person on the Mk6 forum with the HTC so intested in anyones experiences. My mate purchased a Samsung GS4 recently and he has given up on getting BT to work in his brand new Mercedes van. Are new phones too smart for older cars?
Not sure what to do if I can't get this resolved, very important that it works. My old Samsung GS2 worked perfectly.

What bluetooth module do you have? If its a 9wz (the one with rSAP support) then you need to do some work...

Check out this thread. We got it going with a Desire S, should work with a One (I have a one and am able to install the RSAP ap but cant test it as I dont have a 9wz BT module).

Thanks for your reply, but I have no idea of what Bluetooth module I have (and I don't want to know) - I just want it to work and I shouldn't have to do fixes to get it to work. Incredibly disappointed at present, my previous phone and other family member phones all work in the Golf.

If you don't want to know then you can't expect to resolve the issue...

Incompatibilities are an unfortunate part of technology.

If you have a 9wz module (either get the part number from the BT module under the drivers seat or from a VCDS scan of the vehicle) then you have to either install the RSAP app on your HTC One after it is rooted per my previous link, or get a phone that supports RSAP (eg SGS4). Alternately you can replace the BT module with a 9w7 module which will work with your current phone no issues.

I'm not sure how you expect people to help you if you don't want to give them the information they need in order to help you. Presumably yours is the factory-fitted standard Bluetooth that comes with the Mk6 Golf. IIRC that's the 9WZ for a 2012 car.

My apologies, I am very grateful for the assistance, I am just annoyed that I even have to consider doing a "fix" just to make my phone work. I am not tech savvy so I don't even know where to look to find what BT module I have.

My Samsung Galaxy SIII (stock, not rooted) works properly (phonebook and all), however sometimes (say, 1 out of 8 times) the car does not connect to the phone. I've tried deleting the profile and re-tethering the phone.

Anyone got any ideas on that as well as Fox67's dilemma?

Never had any issue with all of them in my mk6 103tdi nor my Scirocco R.

When I picked my mk6 up, there were already 3 handsets paired with the car ( i presume testing by technicians) as it was brand new.

Just removed them, and readded my own. Bare in mind you must be stationary when paring your devices to the cars bluetooh.

You more than likely have a 9w7 bt module. As do I. Works fine with phones that support RSAP (eg Samsung Galaxy) as well as those that don't eg HTC phones.

Fox67, you can check under your seat for a box and get the part number from it.

If you would prefer to let a professional resolve this for you I would advise contacting forum sponsor JKU who is in your neck of the woods in Maroochydore. May end up costing you as much as buying a Samsung Galaxy S4 to have the BT module replaced though....

I noticed you said the car doesnt even find the phone, have you ensured BT is enabled on the phone and its discoverable?

Perhaps see if a friends phone is found by the unit?

my htc one x (not rooted) pairs perfectly fine with my 9wz bluetooth unit.

if a phone is not rsap mode capable, the 9wz connects in normal hfp mode.
the 9wz does not operate in rsap mode only. its a 9w7 + rsap capable (includes external gsm antenna).

however, if i root my htc one x, i'm told i can enable rsap on it, and hence, eventually b able to connect to the 9wz in rsap mode - giving me full functionality.

not always the case. My HTC Desire S would not connect. The 9wz would identify the phone (only after rsap application - trial- was installed), but always announce "Phone is not compatible". Once the phone's firmware was rooted, the rsap application was able to be applied with 100%compatibility and full functionality.

Darkshadow, is there any coding options on the 9wz to control/disable rsap functionality?
If that's available it could be another avenue to compatibility...

i didn't perform any coding options to the 9wz. i don't know how i'd do that!!

my previous phone, an iphone, doesn't have the rsap, so it would connect in the usual hfp mode with my 9wz.
my missus has a galaxy s2 - it connects in rsap mode, cause the phone has it.
i then got the htc one x - it connects in the usual hfp mode.
when the missus uses the car, it connects with her's in rsap mode.

i don't do any coding to switch between phones. the 9wz connects depending on the phone's capability.
once connected, i think i can configure (via maxidot) the 9wz to not use rsap connectivity, for a given user profile.
i'll have to confirm this.

Thankyou to everyone who offered advice, the problem has now been sorted and phone and car are talking to each other as was intended. Not sure what was happening but just did a few power downs and turned BT on and off etc and it finally worked, fingers crossed for the next 2 years.
Great phone by the way.
