MK6 GTI Uberstealth Underfloor Sub Box

I know I'm kind of talking to myself here now but I thought I'd consolidate the information that I find in case somebody else wants to research the installation of one of these sub boxes.

In this post, vwcabriolet1971 outlines his switch to a full size spare and the purchase of the foam trays to raise the height of the boot liner.

And this thread -

Which is again raising the height of the boot liner for a full sized spare. The pictures in this thread make it easy to visual the amount of space "lost".

To summarize, it looks like the box will be ok to utilise. Some people are happy to lose the 4" of boot space for a full sized spare. I'm happy to lose the space for a sub. And the Americans have had a smaller amount of boot space all along due to the inclusion of a full size spare from the factory.

Sub and amp went in today. Big thanks to Kevin and the boys at Darell Smailes in Albury for a very neat job.

Using untangle's setting on the head unit Dynaudio system - how does it measure? - Page 7 - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com it works great. Good punch to fill out the bottom end. Makes me realise how good the Dynaudio is now the bottom end is filled.
Strongly recommend this to everyone.

Nic's boxes sure look awesome - but are super expensive when you factor in postage.

Built my standard upright subbox for $30. Another $30 for close but not perfect matching carpet.

Rockford fosgate amp and sub, wiring, line out converter tapped into rear speakers. Self installed. Total cost under $300.

Velcro the box in. Takes 30 seconds to remove if the full boot is needed.
