  • RNS510 Install

    Hi,

I've managed to find plenty of install info on the RNS510 retrofit, but nothing specific to the information that I'm chasing.

I'm about to install an RNS510 in my 13 Tiguan.

The Tig currently has an RCD510 that supports Bluetooth Audio Streaming and ID3 Tags display on the screen when songs are playing.

Is it safe to assume that I have a 9w7 BT module because I have that feature, or is it possible that the BT is built into the RCD510 unit? I don't have VCDS at my disposal to check.

It's all good. I've worked it out.

Now how can I delete this?

Instead of deleting, why not post up what the solution was...to help anyone else who could be searching the forums (at a later date) to get a fix for a similar problem.

I think the information Wynnston wanted to share is this:
The Bluetooth Audio streaming capability (A2DP) is a function of the Bluetooth Unit (9w7) which is under the seat. This plugs into the head unit (be that an RNS510 or RCD510) to actually play the music.

The second piece of information is that displaying artist/track information from the A2DP stream requires a streaming device (eg your phone) to support AVRCP version 1.3 or above. Otherwise while streaming the head unit will just display 'BT Audio'. Still allows you to pause, skip tracks etc with lower versions just does not support display of track info.

iOS (iphone/ipod) 5 and 6 support this as do most current Android and Windows OS phones. Some exceptions are HTC Android phones which use a proprietary BT stack that doesnt support AVHCP 1.3. Like mine.
