If you've got the part numbers for them, you can order them through the dealership.

I ended up getting a mate in the UK to bring me some of those tiny pin connectors as they were like 2 pounds with free shipping in the UK, or 18 pounds shipping to Aus....fit in a small envelope...

thanks for the help there was none on ebay. the listing only had the adapter head...
manage to find the parts list and track them down through the dealer cost 70c each which sounds about right.

here is all the parts listings for plugs with pics if any one is interested.

I checked the place I got a whole load of plugs from, but they didn't have your part number listed

Sounds like the dealer found the 'repair wire' with the much needed pins aready attached. 1 wire will have 2 pins and you just cut it in the middle to get 2 pinned wires you can splice back into the harness.

Problem is the Stealerships charge ~$14 for 1x repair wire.

Yes... get the pin connectors and they are about $0.50-0.70 each. only downside is you might have to wait for them to be orderd in.
also make sure you find an appropriate barrel crimp tool - I got the Jaycar $14 crimper and it works fine.

yeah it will take 2 days to get them in. is there a pin puller tool for the adapters i could get at jaycar?

probably... but they are of dubious quality - computer geeks get some from UK/GER that are of better quality but pricey.

Do what I do ... use bobby pins.

                      I have made 2 pairs.
                      Normal and thin

Open them up so they are 90 deg (right angles)
scrape off the enamel droplet protection droplet on the straight leg end.
                      now to modify them:
on both pairs you need to reduce the thickness
on one pair you also ned to reduce the width.
Use a fine file to get the legs to the desired shape to fit the socket slot where the locking tabs are.

this makes a wide and narrow pair of tools for the normal and smaller pins you need to remove.

You might need to fold the tips in a fraction so that when you slide the leg into the socket, the bent tip pushes the locking tab in.
                      like this:
                      / \
                      | |
                      | |

Don't force the legs into the socket - file the legs down so they slide with a slight tightness. if they are too tight you can damage the plastic socket or the connector - but worse it is even harder to pull the wire out as you are then gripping the connector like pliers!

basically stick them in where the locking tabs are located on the connector and then pull the wire out.

It will take time and practice to get the feel of doing it... if you buy the tool there is still a learning curve to get it right.

With the bobby pin method you can put pressure on each leg individually - with a de-pinning tool you cannot as the tool inserts both legs at the same time (they look like tweezers)

I got connectos to add extra powers wires to my fuse panel - the small fuse connectors were is stock and I got them next day - but I had to wait 3 weeks to get the standard fuse connectors as they needed to be ordered from manufacturer then sent to VW Singapore then shipped to VW AUS then to dealer.

Agreed - the repair wires (part number 000 979 009 E) are an absolute rip-off for what they are.

Would love to find a source for the female connectors/terminals if anyone knows of one. Jaycar have similar connectors but the fit is not perfect from my experience.

I got some of these hand delivered from the UK...shipping charges are insane internationally, but free in the UK...
They seem to have most of those small connectors.

Thanks kamold - that certainly looks like the kind of thing I am after.

Must be a reasonable source for these sort of things locally?!

You'd have to think so but I couldn't find any with a little bit of searching. What are you after? I can get my mate in the UK to send then over if you like.
