  • Replacing interior bulbs with LEDs

    Hi Guys,
I was looking to replace the bulbs in my MY!2.5 Polo GTI with white LEDs.
I've been able to remove the front overhead console and replace the bulbs there, but have no idea how to safely remove the read-seat overhead light fixture.

    Any hints?

As an aside, when using LEDs in the front OHC, I find that they aren't switching off fully, but dimming very low (obviously drawing some current) Anyone seen/overcome this?
Yet to get a multimeter on it.

What kind of LED replacement are you using?

Managed to get the rear cover off in the end.

Aerpro blade LEDs for the front overhead, and the SuperCheap Auto festoon LEDS for both the front reading lights, and back reading/entry lights.

The LEDs are drawing about 700μA/0.07mA) each when the power is off. It looks kinda weird, but with that amperage, I'm not too worried about battery drain.

They should turn off when you lock the car.
That's been my experience in my previoys A3, current MkV Golf and Octavia.
All will 'glow' while the car is unlocked. It allows the hologen globes to do the nice soft on and off feature where they fade.
The LEDs cant do that, they just come on and blind the daylights out of your passengers
