  • Thanks Hans - so I guess I will live with the reversing.

Does your SD card do the same thing I described with mine? I'm going to try another SD card to rule out it being a problem with the card, but it's a fast card and seems to read/write well on the computer!

If I could ask, what firmware version do you have? Should I be worried that mine seems to be different to the M99 discussed here? Maybe it's a regional thing, with M99 being the current Australian version?

    • Ooooh! Setup, System, scroll up and there is a setting for "Camera Volume" which is set to "Mute" by default. Change it to 5, 10 or 15 and the volume while reversing is set to that level. I have set it to 5, so the radio goes quieter while reversing, but doesn't turn off. One problem solved!

Your firmware seems to better than mine then (M99). I want M136 too...

I have not had any issues with SD card playback except the fact that the songs ar not in the right order in folders.

        • I had the same problem with the reverse because I don't have reverse camera, so Sandy send me a firmware that disables the OPS. I have the ANS 610.

Better wait for Sandy to return from honeymoon and he will give you a solution.

          • Finally installed my ANS810 and RVC. RVC took over 3 wks to get to Canada from Hong Kong! This is the first shipment from HK to Can I have experienced such long shipping time (tracking was provided).

The ANS810 I have, has a CAM PWR lead that only gets power when R is selected on the shifter. It gets the info from CANBUS. I used it successfully to power the RVC camera. No tapping of the Rev light circuit required. All it took was to run a wire from the CAM PWR lead to the positive of the RVC, ground the negative on the RVC to the ground point in the trunk lid. Video signal wire from RVC to ANS810. Done.

            • Latest Maps for ANS-420?

              Hi
What are the latest maps available for the ANS-420?
Mine are from Jan and the unit is starting to give me warnings about my maps being out of date.
              Cheers,
              Scott

                • Sorry guys I have the new map update sitting here with me I just haven't had time to send it out - I've had a computer upgrade and would have to put together the ANS customer email list again and right now the DNS series group buy is taking up all of my time. I'll aim to send out that update by this weekend.

Regarding the firmware, I do have M136 as well though I was initially told when given it that it was made to be compatible with new features in the new Passat. I'll confirm the firmware is okay on other cars (which seems to be the case if units are just shipping with it).

                  • That's great, thanks for confirming the firmware numbers DkN . It does seem the firmware works well on my 2009 Passat, it does seem slow to react to button pushes sometimes (e.g. when you push the nav button to turn the nav off so you can see the radio screen, sometimes you have to wait a while or push a couple of times), but in general it's OK.

I didn't know about the DNS when I ordered the ANS here in the UK, else I'd have been a member of your other group buy...oh well, maybe I'll upgrade in a year or two!

                    • Sandy, appreciate that you have been kept quite busy with the DNS launch, but please try and find a few minutes for us ANS folks who have been patiently waiting in the background. A firmware and map update has been a long time coming and would be very welcome.

(PS more importantly make sure you always make time for the new Mrs Sandy..................)

Thanks Hans - maps not so much an issue. Its the M136 firmware for the ANS units that I am most interested in. I am still running M99 and would like to get the most recent version.

Anyone know what improvements the M136 has over the M99 firmware?

I think someone mentioned being able to adjust the volume of the radio when engaging reverse instead of it just muting. Is this so and what else has been fixed / improved?

                            • The reversing camera volume was me - yes that's true. I don't however know what else is new because I don't have the earlier version! What particular fixes are you looking for?

Thanks Szymon. Any improvement in IPOD function would be a bonus for me. I listen to a lot of podcasts and it is a pain that most of the time the unit doesn't display the track name correctly and mixes up lots of other information (right track, wrong artist etc) The big one though is if the unit could "remember" the last played track and position from ipod when switching on, rather than always defaulting to first track. I would sell my first born to get this working.......
