  • I changed the grounding and there was not difference. I am now suspecting that I simply have another problem with the power line going to the right rear reverse light. There is no power to this line when I activate reverse gear. There is no break in the wire, all connections have been redone several times. I am thinking there is something centrally that has occurred. I still don't know which fuse is responsible for the right rear reverse light....anyone??

Here is my update of the wiring I have done to date:

    • Well, I tried to use my VCDS software to change some lighting settings to see if somehow my ECU had altered its behavior. I know that outside of North America that some countries only have one side reverse light and the other side a fog light. I thought that perhaps somehow it had gone to a non-NAR setting. I tried manipulating byte 18 in the Central Electronics Module but no change. This is the byte that a lot of folks manipulate to add a rear fog light and/or change to LED lighting.

What is more aggravating is that once in a while when I first start the car I get a brief RVC screen on my ANS-810 without any image. After a few seconds it flips to the radio screen.

Are you saying your reverse light doesn't work? If it works, it could be switched in 2 ways.
        1. 12v always on it and ground is switched when going to reverse (relay setup would have to change). Or
        2. Permanent ground on it and 12V switches to it (relay setup is probably ok if connected to non ground side, test with multimeter with globe removed).

        • Reverse light doesn't work on the right side.

I've checked with my multimeter. I am fairly certain that the 12V reverse light power is switched since this is how the left reverse light operates as confirmed by testing. And the wiring connector at the rear light assembly has 4 power lines and only one common ground wire. This would go against a switched ground wire as all lights in the rear light assembly would then be under the influence of that one switched line.

Why dont you run a wire straight off the 12v socket to the camera temporarily and see if that works Then you will know if its in the rev light wiring or not

            • until you get the light feed fixed, you won't see the camera..I don't know if the relay load will influence the CAN monitoring? Time to go through your fuses ( has the right reverse light ever worked)? here in Australia we definitely only have a left rear reverse light though).

I will get around to doing this but since there is no power going to the reverse light itself I want to get this working before tackling the camera. I suspect that if I get power going through the reverse light power wire that the camera issue will also resolve itself.

I agree totally. Others on this forum have used the reverse light power feed to trigger a relay. I am hoping that others who have succeeded will chime in and either correct my wiring diagram or confirm I am on the right track. If my wiring set-up is found to be sound then I definitely feel that there is something going on "centrally" either a fuse (which one handles the reverse lights??) or a ECU setting.

Thanks for all the input...keep it coming!

                • your wiring looks fine, assuming the relay isn't loading up the system and causing probs. but has your right rear reverse light ever worked? I assume you have modded and put LED rears in, did you check that was all fine?
( as was suggested, use your 12V feed to test camera, and if you don't have a right rear reverse, take it off left rear instead ).

                  • Most recent firmware update went out tonight - let me know if anyone subscribed did not receive it, I recall a couple of bounces in the emails.

Latest available firmware is also now listed in the second post of this thread.
TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

                    • Any news about new units?

I'm happy for the users of the ANS810, so they are still getting new firmware updates.

By the way, Mirrorlink is a registered standard. When I saw that the new unit would come with Mirrorlink I thought it would be that. Anyway, it's a cool option (but there are several far importants for me).

                      • Yes Mirrorlink is one specific company with registered trade mark and patent etc but these days the term "mirroring" or "mirror linking" is increasingly being used for such functions, hence the confusion. Anyway the new unit does true mirroring of the device unlike Mirrorlink which unlocks specific apps only when connected.

The new unit is progressing and I am hopeful for a release within a month. Their software developers are working around the clock to get everything finalised.

                        • Applied the firmware update and all went well.

There is still an issue with the OPS not showing.

From very limited testing, if you have the Navi auto set to on, then the OPS does not display. If you have the Navi auto set to off, but press the Navi button to display the Navi screen, then a few seconds after selecting reverse, the map display is replaced by the OPS display.

                          • Ok I apologize in advance as I know this information is in this thread but there are so many suggestions/info it's overwhelming and I can't find what I need.

Can anyone help me out with some links or part numbers to the radio adapters for the ANS-810? I've had this unit for over a year and never cared much about listening to the radio (and never have). Recently I've been wondering what I'm missing out on and want to get some decent reception.

I'm in the US, have a 2012 MK6 GTI with the dual antenna. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Sorry again for not searching better, but again too much info!

                            Thanks,
                            Brian

You'll want this one. I know it's not cheap; but don't make the same mistake I did. I just ordered one for 14 dollars and change, plus 13 dollars in shipping only to receive it and find out the AM side of the connector is empty. It's not wired to the antenna at all. I never listen to AM; but I still don't like the idea of having something that is not fully functional.

You can also try this one. It is what I got (after getting the other first) and is a touch cheaper.
