i also have been having a problem with my ipod hook up, there is a static or ticking noise alol the time in the background of a song that has been happening for awhile. (used it with a iphone 4s and iphone 5 as of now.)

and i was wondering if the bluetooth audio on the new unit would be better quality because i origionally bought this unit for that but the quality was so bad ive been using the ipod cord instead.

are there any signifiacnt changes between the new unit and the ans810 that is worth upgrading?

and if you can ship to the US i would prefer to deal with you
This was my problem but was skipped lol.
iPod audio has background noise. Ticking sound with wind almost.

          • I've heard a couple of isolated BT / iPod audio issues but these seem to be faulty units, for me and most of my customers there's no background noise.

M99 is the latest firmware now, I will be sending it out in the next few days, just need to update the instructions relating to MCU.

Other than OEM inputs at the back of the unit and the CPU / RAM change I don't know about the status of other hardware updates. I'm pushing them for the preamps but it's not something that customers in China really pay attention to so without requests they wouldn't see a need to upgrade. Going up to 4V would require an upgraded DSP chip.

From what I understand though the current 2V preamps sound pretty good as they are (nothing mind blowing but definitely better than OEM), and there is debate as to whether 4V or higher would really make a difference in a car environment full of metal.

DkN - any chance you could send an email to your contacts at Audiosources? I have sent them an email with no response. Keen to make a decision on the "new" unit vs some other options.

There's nothing much feature-wise for this update, more so just updates to some settings in the hidden menu in Aux-In and RVC behaviour. Apparently now the option to turn off OPS in the hidden menu is functional, so you can update to the latest MCU without RVC connected and you won't get stuck on the OPS screen in reverse.

                  • i have emailed AS to ask about any updates on the new units, please don't tell me this is true....

"Thanks for your email, the new unit with platform is still in develop process,
maybe need wait one more month till the quality & software is stable."

it was hard to wait till 1-april and now we have to wait again

                      • I have been in discussion with the manager, he originally planned to release the unit at the end of this month so right about now, but decided to go back and revisit the software and also the radio signal quality. He's very passionate about what he does but I find him to be a bit over enthusiastic about timelines.

Having said that, we have been talking about the direction of the new platform and he agreed that it is better to release a proper stable product than a not yet finished buggy one. This was what happened with the ANS when it first came out, it wasn't stable until at least 3 months after public release and even then it still has its quirks, some of them lasting till this day. I told him to do what is necessary to refine the product as I'd rather we wait longer but not be disappointed.

From what information I have, I would also expect another month. I realise there has been multiple delays but at every stage I was just relaying the manager's estimates, which as I said were very optimistic.

Here's to hoping we get everything we asked for and more - I myself have been impatiently waiting to install the new unit into my car too

The New unit has been coming next month every month since December! There's a lot of great head units out there these days, as much promise as this one seems to show I can't help but wonder if it will ever happen.

                              • The thing about getting the latest of anything is that when you buy it, there will be something newer coming out.

The best thing is to see what you are looking for and then get something that matches that, otherwise you will always be waiting for the next improved version which will never really come.
