ANS-810 / ANS-510 (PROPER RNS-510 alternative)

Firstly please excuse my ignorance but I had my 19 year old take care of set up (why do it yourself if you have a willing and able assistant - I install and he cares care of the setup) however he is currently in Byron Bay (god bless schoolies).

GPS message this afternoon - needs GPS path. Went into setup and when I go to GPS path it does not identify the SD card ;leaving no option to select. At 40c in Melbourne this afternoon I was not going to sit in the car and try to work it all out.

What do I do?

I was wondering whether the unit did not enjoy the heat extreme and had gone terminal on the GPS.

Most likely a problem with the SDcard that has the GPS software on it.
You'll need to check the card in a computer for any errors. If the file system on the card is corrupt you might get away with reformatting it and installing the GPS software onto it again, otherwise just buy another card. They are very cheap, you only need a small (1-4GB) card.

This looks a great unit - just wondering if anyone with any SQ background/experience can comment on it?

How is the sound quality and customisation? How do the RCA outs perform? Obviously there are some more advanced things lacking like time alignment etc., but does the unit stack up against aftermarket stuff as far as general SQ and EQ adjustments?

And for anyone running amp(s) has everything been to your satisfaction?

First, which slot is the GPS card in? It has to be the right hand slot.

Then when you have the file display, you have to scroll through the folders to get to the Primo executable file. This is fiddly as the touch screen is an issue (just difficult to scroll with).

Card is in the correct slot. Was working am then late afternoon zilch. Card is not read and no files to scroll and select. Will check the card on PC re errors.

Swapped out GPS card and music card was read fine so clearly a read error on the GPS card. Removed and reinserted GPS card into adapter and it works again.

Must have been some "corrosion" that caused the card not to be read. Taking it out and putting it back in wiped the contacts clean.

I have read the whole thread and have a few questions for DkN. I am located in the USA and I read that you do not ship these units there. I went to audiosources website and can't find any information on ordering it. Do you have a link I can go to to purchase the ans-510? I know Iwouldn't be able to purchase it from you because you don't ship overseas but would there be anyway I would be able to get the new firmware updates (as they come) that you include when the unit is purchased from you? And my most important question. Will this fit my car? I have a 2006 mkv Jetta Sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission. Thanks in advance.

Audiosouces does not list pricing info on the website, you have to send them an email in the contact us section. You will end up corresponding with one of their sales agent via email; they'll provide cost, shipping..etc. I paid through paypal.

I'll post again tomorrow after the install. A buddy and I are going to install it early tomorrow. And yes, it will fit your car. I also have on 06 Jetta (TDI), manual.

does anyone here feel like the bt music quality isnt the best? i work for a dealer and ive used cadillac, nissan, buick, gmc and a few other off brands used cars bt just to test it out and the quality of the bt in my car isnt the best. there is like a feint ticking noise. the only car that ive duplicated it in using the same phone is a 2012 mistubishi lancer gt. its not the phone quality"""" its the music quality coming from pandora only in BT mode. the same pandora playing from the ipod cord through the radio is fine.
is there a update for that or a module update?
its installed in a 2009 vw cc 2.0t model.
i would just continue to use the ipod cord but its not long enough so i rather my phone be wireless.
