Just shoot me an email back if you have any issues, I keep all firmware versions I received up till June.

    • I didn't have a problem with the last firmware update but this one is not working for me. Cannot format my 8GB mini SD card to "FAT". IT's not an option, only FAT32, NTFS or exFAT. None of these work.

When I put it in the car it says "BAD SD" as soon as it reads it.

      What gives?

As I mention in my instructions, you need a 2 or 4 gb SD card. Any bigger in size and you won't be able to format it to FAT.

I managed to create a 4gb primary partition on a 16gb sd card. That seemed to work ok.
But frankly the effort against the cost of a new 4 gb card probably wasn't worth it.

            • Radio went crazy today. I drove out of the carpark, all my preset channels got reset. Altho the text are still there, but the frequencies are set to 87.5

This is getting frustrating if I need to set the channels again every morning.

              Any solutions DKN?

I will uploaf to youtube later tonight.

There are minor bugs playing mp3 and video from sd too. Not all folders in the sd card are showing on the list. Folder names get truncated. Each time a song ends there is a weird sound when going to the next song.

I will try with another sd card again just to be sure.

Check your frequency band. There are 3 FM bands which you may have cycled through by pressing the radio button while in sat nav or while in radio itself. The 3 frequency bands allow 18 stations saved in total, but there is a glitch at the moment that the saved RDS station names do not change across the bands.

In SD, folders and files should all show up unless you have many files (something like more than 600, the unit may not see beyond it in the browse menu). When the unit first boots though it is crawling through all the files and if you go straight to folder browse, everything may not yet be there. exit out of browse, wait a few seconds, go in again, and you will see some new folders / files have appeared. For my SD card I have close to 400 mp3 files in the one folder, and the time taken to show all of them is about 20 seconds from when SD menu is loaded. I just leave my music on random for my whole collection, and by the time I want to choose a specific song, which is pretty much never when I first boot the unit, the browse menu is long since loaded.

The slight skipping sound does not happen to all songs, I'm unsure about the cause at the moment, I experimented with an external indepedent WinCE music player and it did the same thing, could be something in WinCE itself or maybe the particular codec installed in the system, which will need deeper investigation.

There is a limit of 512 files in the root folder of any drive. Folders may contain more than 512 files, it is just the root folder

I have seen this before on other software that fades out MP3 files. Try a Google search on audio glitch at end of MP3 files. That might give your SW engineers a clue how to fix it, and also enable gapless playback.

That's odd - does this happen without any operation of the unit? You just turned it on when it could not find a signal? I know if you press the scan button it will exhibit the exact behaviour you described - maybe the unit tries to be too smart and auto scan when it boots with no signal in its presets. If that is the case I will definitely get this fixed.

I works fine today after I retune all channel. Just that it wasnt on the right channel that was last selected. The screen shows the that the 3rd channel is selected, byt it was on the first.

What i think causes all my channel to reset was the RDS AF settings on the preset.

Any chance they gonna make the length of the text in the sd to display more than 15 characters?

                          Thanks

                          • Ok, I have a question.

The upgrade procedure requires a 2 or 4 GB microSD card. The problem is that in trying to track one down there are 4 GB microSD and 4 GB microSDHC cards. When questioned, I get told that the HC version has "higher capacity". What? Does the 4 GB microSDHC have more than 4 GB of storage capacity?

The upgrade procedure requires a card formatted with FAT ( not FAT32 or NTFS) due to hardware/software in ANS unit.

Technically SDSC go UP TO 4gb and and are pre-shipped formatted with FAT format.
SDHC are UP TO 32gb using FAT32.

Some 4gb cards are SDSC, others are SDHC. Capacity difference is not much but FAT32 has more room in index for more files.

It's getting hard to find SDSC cards now, so you might have to specifically format an SDHC card to FAT, or use windows disk management tool to partition your massive SDHC card to have a single 4gb pprimary partition, wasting the extra space.
Technically SD card are formatted differently than Windows can do it and there are special SD format utilities, but I've never seen a real world problem.
