  • V5 Map Issues?

Went to the dealers today to source V5 maps. Was advised not to load V5 as VWA have advised dealers not to load V5, load older V4 maps and that a V6 will soon be available.

Reason was rather vague "V5 has a number of glitches" that will be fixed in V6.

Anyone have any more information or suffering from V5 glitches?
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

Most notable and mentioned in most threads ... dodgey speed limits displayed.

apart from the +10km/h speed limit signs, i haven't encountered any glitches.

I got the V5 maps and also noticed this. No real big deal but I did chuckle lightly when the Tullamarine Freeway in Victoria said I could do 120km/h.

I'd expect the speed limit issue to be the reason VW aren't pushing it... heaven forbid someone decides to try and hold them liable for a speeding fine

guess the speed limit thingy is nowhere near as bad as the case overseas which saw two women drive their car into a lake!!
gps directed to them a boat ramp. unfortunately being at night, by the time the driver realised, it was too late.

Or the one with the Japanese tourists drive into the sea on Stradbroke Island:

Have noticed also that the dumb b!tch also doesn't know her left and right with the V5 map!

On a few occasions she has got them mixed up when announcing the turn up ahead.

So far they all occurred when exiting a motorway.

Can anyone else confirm this glitch?

I haven't had that one yet (I assume it thinks you are no the other side of the highway???)

Have had the issue with speed errors as it assumes highways ar 120 or something and one of our ones it 80 or 90 depending on which part....

I've noticed the speed limit errors. It also takes longer to boot. Its probably due to the firmware rather than the maps. I don't mind though, it gives me more time to admire the custom boot screen which is a pic of my car.

Yep - can confirm this sometimes happens. But no consistency so one day the same junction could be called incorrectly and the other days all fine. It's like she's been on the piss the night before and is getting confused. Or she's become my grandmother for one day.

                        Then she's back to normal....
