I've had to revert back to FW 3970 on my C Unit to fix problem with GPS.

Was not finding any satellites under FW 4020.

Even pulled out and unplug unit. But didn't fix it.

Seems to be back to normal under FW 3970.

Certainly my experience (on a C Unit) with FW 4020 is no performance improvements over FW 3970.

Fair point - I'd like to say the response time of the screen is better but that could just be wishful thinking. Really it all seems much of the same, but as it's working no need to revert back.

In terms of satellites, given it took so long to install the maps, I would say that the first time mine locked on to satellites was about 45 minutes after it finished installing the firmware, and then waiting for the maps to install.

Only right at the end of the map installation did it find and lock on...

        Hey guys

Updated my RNS to 4020 from 3890 or whatever the previous modified firmware was, both using the modified 90/5/5 structure. Everything updated fine, did a quick test and it seems when I click the map button, no roads appear. The screen is just whitish/greyish with the blue sky colour if you zoom out. I haven’t driven the car as of yet as I’m at work but will this issue sort itself out once it locks on to satellites? I am running V5 maps, is there anyway to reinstall the same version maps onto the system?

        Cheers

          It'll sort itself out.

Just pop the map cd back in and it should be fine within 30 mins + a quick drive.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

4020 doesn't delete maps/music. It just needs to lock on to the satelittes, so… "it'll sort itself out".
