Changing VW ASSISTANCE and VW INFO phone number when INFO/SPANNER button is pressed

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the number that is dialled when you press and hold the the INFO or SPANNER button on the roof console. It is meant to dial VW ASSISTANCE and VW INFO but it is programmed to dial a german phone number 008008655792436.

Can we re-program these buttons using VCDS ?

    Thanks in advance

If you have VCDS select installation list, then select phone channel 77, then select adaption, then scroll down and find the channels
written in text (emergency numbers) and (information) change these to a number you want then press ok. This will only work when your
own phone is connected via bluetooth and will dial the number through your phone only. It will not work if no phone is connected.
Be careful and don't change anything else accidently there are a lot of other adaptions!! otherwise trip to dealership to recode may be
        required

          Thanks grtuned

Now, if a few people can test this and report back on their car model types and years (e.g., MK6 Golf GTI MY11.5 etc). Cheers.

It ask to enter the phone number as a 7 hexadecimal numbers separated by a space. Anyone know how to convert aussie phone number to hexadecimal. eg. 0411 222333 to xx xx xx xx xx xx xx.

            Thanks.

Take a look at String to ASCII chart, ASCII to decimal convertor, String to decimal converter, string hexadecimal / hex conversion , though I can't see it working with just 7 digits as we'll need 10.

I have done it on 2011 golf and it worked but did not ask for
numbers to be put in as hex input. I suspect different phone kit versions to blame I have not had time to check but ill do it tomorrow and
post out come Possibly add australian area number into the equation????

I have tried using vag com and as jefalijas says a hex code is required. i have tried multiple hex combinations but vag com will not allow
number to be stored i suspect vag com communication issue it may be fixed during an update who knows??
But what i have found is if you ask VW dealer to do this it will store a number using there machines, This will be a cost to whoever chooses to have it done...

The dealer here programed mine to call Australian VW Assist and their service department; Given that I'll never return to Austral I wouldn't mind changing the numbers. I assume it can be changed via programming easy enough.

I merged these two threads together. There is more information in this thread, including the location of it in VCDS. However, it appears the numbers are in hex format, and I'm not sure anyone has tried it and confirmed it yet.

Just posted in the Mk6 GTI VCDS ( VAG-COM ) codes thread.

After a bit of messing around, I was able to code both buttons on the center roof console for Information (little 'i' picture) and Service/Breakdown (spanner picture) to numbers of my choosing. I now have the breakdown/service button calling VW roadside assistance and the information button calling my VW dealer.

For those interested, under the Telephone module --> Adaption in VCDS there are four items at the bottom of the drop down list. Two for each button, one being a 'roaming' version. The Service/Breakdown coding requires 7 bytes which are entered as their raw numeric values. So for VW roadside I entered 18 00 63 71 81 00 00 (note padding with 0's for the last two bytes). The Information number requires 8 bytes, again pad with 0's for the extra bytes.
