  • Two antenna cables?

    Hi,

I just fitted my Alpine unit in to the Eos at the weekend and was stalled for a short time on the two radio antenna connections to the back of the stock head unit.

I have connected up just one of them to the antenna adaptor I bought but was wondering why there are two? Does anyone know?

    Thanks,

    Adam

Ah, didn't think of that, interesting. I don't listen to AM radio so I can probably leave it for now, guess I accidentally picked the right one to connect!

What would be the solution then if I wanted both connected to an aftermarket unit?

I think that would depend on what connection you have on the Alpine you might be able to combine the two into one ,i'm sure any radio installer would have a solution.

There are two different antenna's, one is better tuned for FM, the other for AM. As borbor suggested a twin-fakra antenna adapter will allow you to connect both antenna's, and will improve the signal in weak signal areas (for both FM and AM). Around Brisbane one antenna is fine for both FM & AM until you get into the fringe areas.

For anyone else changing their stock MKV / Eos headunit, this is what you need:
