Firmware upgrade for rns 510 - 2760

Hi All,

Thought I'd just let everyone know, just in case anyone was thinking about updating their firmware, that I updated my RNS 510 to version 2760 from:

Volkswagen RNS 510 Firmware Upgrade to version 2760 / 2762 / 2764 / 2766 / 2768 | my-gti.com

No issues and I am using V3 maps and I am able to use SDHC cards (the main reason why I updated the firmware).

Hope you can help with a few questions, I want to do the same upgrade.
- What Model year is your VW ?
- do you know your RNS 510's version of Hardware and firmware before the upgrade ?
- Did you lose any music or your maps ?
- Did you have to reprogram the steering wheel controls after the upgrade ?

And lastly, did any of these work for you after the upgrade ?
- digital speed display on MFD
- Speed limit display on map
- shows clock when switched off
- dual zone controller Climatronic control
- Faster Startup
- SDHC 32 GB Support


a bunch of questions, I am just a little cautious before doing the upgrade.

Sorry mate, haven't checked the forums in a while, I will try and answer your questions the best I can, to the experience that I have with it:

2009 MKV GTI (the last of its kind)
- do you know your RNS 510's version of Hardware and firmware before the upgrade ?
Nope, I winged it, at work now but when I get home, I will post you the firmware and hardware versions, I was just banking on the fact that mine was the newest of the MKV.
- Did you lose any music or your maps ?
NOPE!, it was just a firmware upgrade
- Did you have to reprogram the steering wheel controls after the upgrade ?
NOPE!, no need to do that either.

Also to note, after the upgrade, the unit doesn't know where it is, so go for a drive and it should find itself. If not then force the restart by holding the 3 buttons, and you should be good to go!

And lastly, did any of these work for you after the upgrade ?

Nope. Never did work.

Nope. Never did work.

Not sure what you mean, but mine are controlled by the dials.

Not really.
- SDHC 32 GB Support
YES. This is the big draw card for me!, 32GB support!, one thing is, that after I turn off the car and come back, I get a SD CARD read error. I just have to push out the card and back in, and its happy again.

Time display on after upgrade

Hi
After my upgrade I was able to see the clock when the unit was off. You need to change the settings:

Setup->time display-> on
