Volkswagen RNS 510 New Firmware Release

I used Toast 9 to burn this on my mac. You have to burn it as per the instructions as an image file I think, can't remember exactly now but that was the hurdle I had to get over. It is just a tick box on the toast preferences.

It appears that release 2660 is intended for C revision units.

2670 is coming out shortly.

2700 will be out early next year and will most likely be stopped from being loaded onto A & B units.

And version 1200 will be coming out shortly as well which is designed for revision A & B units and the only features it adds is SDHC and POI photos.

How do you know if you have an A B or C unit?

Unless you have the hidden setup menu available to you by pressing the setup button and keep holding it until the second menu appears, the only way to find out is by using the VAGCOM cable or remove the unit. There may be a label at the back.
I have just installed version 2660 and its great. I can now use 32gb SDHC cards and also use picture POIs. I'm buying a VAGCOM cable so I can get voice control working.

Try a different brand of media and burn at a much slower speed.

Have A, B and C units been a time thing. That is A followed by B followed by C or are they just different units randomly fitted to vehicles so. Are all version units still being installed OEM?.

I loaded this today. I can't see any differences at all, although I haven't had an extensive play with it yet. However, apparently my car now thinks its in Germany. I'll keep playing but perhaps hang off for a few days yet!

EDIT: After a few minutes driving around I am back in Oz, so no apparent problems at all with the update. However, no obvious benefit either. This is the 2700 version, not the 2720. I'll wait for someone else now. Funny that 2720 followed so soon after 2700! Perhaps it says something about 2700?

Same here. I had four attempts with Nero, but no luck. I then used IMGBRN and the CD worked straight away. Great tip.
