The tracking site doesn't seem to update.. I imagine it is all good and well tracking for spanish things in spain but when in australia there may be a slight disjoint in tracking services. Keep your hopes up.. shouldn't take too long now.
Pete - did the Spanish tracking site say for you just that it had left the international departure point and then nothing past that update ?

    • Hey guys, for us installing the VW Bluetooth under our seats, do we need to have a metel bracket also to have it fitted?

As I said before the only things that came in the box is the Bluetooth box and all the cables and the mic. No Bracket and no foam box.

If anyone knows that the procedure is for installing it under your seat and if you know what the braket part number is, please let us know!

I am under the impression that the Foam cover just hugs tight around the BT Module and then the box velcro's to the carpet but I'll let one of the other guys confirm that. The Foam Box has the VW description of "Bracket".

Yep, put it in myself last weekend and this is correct. You carefully put the BT module into the foam "bracket", no screws, etc needed. In fact, when it's in the bracket and fitted, it'd actually not be touching the carpet/floor anyway, as the bracket is deeper than the unit itself. You need to be careful because it could snap if you force it in, but take your time, it only fits into it one way. There are velcro bits glued on to it, which hold the carpet fine. It fits very snuggled into it's position and you'd never know it was there.

Part number should be a page or two back in the thread, I posted it up about 2 weeks ago.

Yep - and if you look back at the previous info, you will see that 2 or 3 of us have bought the foam bracket from Aussie Dealers as a spare part for $27.10. It'll take about 10 days to arrrive as they have to order it in from the regional parts centre in Singapore

Ahh I had no idea the Foam cover was also a 'Bracket'. I thought they were 2 separate things. I have already ordered the foam cover from Barloworld Glen Waverley. $27.10

              Thanks guys

                • So today I installed my 9w7. It is absolutely fantastic. It really is plug and play, although VCDS will be required to get to the setting via the MFD. Saying that I can still make and take calls through the headunit.

See the link below for DIY instructions.

                  • After being the one who was telling everyone else to be patient waiting for their 9W7 from the Spanish guy, it looks like the one I purchased has gone missing ! I ordered it 3 days before the others and there's no sign of mine and no tracking info ! Very annoyed and about to lodge a claim !

                    • It's too early to lodge a claim yet.... in fact, I'd be surprised with such little time having past that they'd even let you log a claim yet (usually you have to wait up to 4 weeks).
You haven't given it enough time. Things can get delayed in the mail, there isn't much you can do about it. Just look at the S2TPP Group Buy that we've done to see what I mean. 20 odd items get sent at the same time, and the receipt period spans almost two weeks. Everyone ended up getting it though.

In your previous post, you were asking if you get anything past "international departure point". This means that, as long as the plane didn't crash, it'll have arrived in Australia. From there it goes through customs and Australia Post.

                      • Called up the dealer today to see if they could re-code my VCDS when it goes in for a service next week. Said it is easy to do and will set me back about 60 bucks. I got quoted $45 by a non-VW place to do it, provided that I gave them the correct instructions. I'm happy enough to pay 15 bucks extra for piece of mind.

                        • Hey Pete, one thing that I wasn't super clear on from your install guide was the location you cable tied the 9w7 to ? Was it to the underneath side of the ledge/cross brace under the radio (eg above the Airconditioning control section ? Also, curious why you didn't put it under the seat - was it because you didn't want to go through the pain of running the cable down the tunnel and under the carpet ?

You do need to cut some wires and do some soldering, but it's fairly straight forward. I do have a link saved somewhere with a good guide on how to fit the mic in the overhead central section though.

I put it under the seat with the foam cover.

The trickiest things were actually running the cables around, my hands can attest to how tight some of the spaces you have to get them into are, they are covered in scrapes and scratches still.
Pele, Can you please explain the details of how/where you ran the cables down to under the seat ?

Once I finish kicking some soccer balls around, sure!

I will edit some pics and put them up... probably easier that way. The threading down behind the console is a bit tricky but just takes some patience. There's a piece of trim that comes off just where the carpet goes up under the trim which helps a lot once it's removed.

Great thanks. Sorry - that was a genuine typo from using fat fingers on an iPhone !
