Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Intermittent Wiper Function

Have a 2009 Passat CC with RLS ( rain light sensor ) module.

Is it possible to use the intermittent function on the wiper stalk and by bypassing the RLS sensor G397.

Since I had a windscreen replacement , non vw , the intermittent / rain sensing wiper does not work correctly.
I have replaced the RLS sensor and silicon pad.

Wipers will activate if I step down from high sensitivity to low sensitivity on the wiper stalk.

Wiper speed only works on continuous slow or high speed.

Wipers will stop when the car is stationary and start wiping when the vehicle is moving .

However if I have the sunroof and windows open the auto close the rain closing feature activates when I spray the RLS with a hose.

Auto headlight turn on is functionally as per norm.

The RLS unit is only a 3 wire module so I assume 2 are for power and the third is for the databus

VAGCOM error log indicating sporadic / no signal communication on RLS G397

sporadic / no signal communication on Control Module J519

Any hints on where is J519 module and wiring pinout for the RLS module.

Is your glass OEM? Different colour glass needs to be coded in the RLS.

Does the sporadic coms error go away if cleared?
