Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Adding Bluetooth or AUX music to 2007 Golf with RCD 300 head unit, how?

    Hi All,

I have spent several hours search the net including this forum and need some help.

I have a 2007 Golf TDI 2.0 Comfortline with an RCD 300 head unit and would like to add a simple bluetooth interface to stream music only for my recently licensed daughter. The car currently has an old VW iPad adaptor which has the old 30 pin connector which pretends to be the CD changer.

What easy to install options and not too expensive are there to be able to play music from an iPhone? I am quite handy so can DIY.

Bluetooth would be ideal but could live with just a 3.5mm AUX input. I don't really want to spend $200+ on a VW bluetooth kit but if I have to go that option what kit would work?

Can anyone recommend any particular products? There seem to be heaps of products on ebay but I don't want to blow up my rcd300 and want the sound to be ok.

    thanks in advance.

    regards

    Chris

    Is the RCD330+ an option:
Replacing RNS 510 with RCD 330+

It's going to cost more than the bluetooth module, but far better outcome if you ask me since you get a shiny new colour screen, bluetooth and CarPlay in an OEM package that is effectively plug and play. The only thing to check is that when upgrading radios in the MkV's there are known battery drain issues which may need the CAN gateway to be updated as well.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
