      • Hi all. Wondering if there is anyone in the Canberra area that could scan a 2018 VW Polo due to me having to change the battery on the way down from QLD. I will travel anywhere that suits you and work from home, so am very flexible. I happen to be a wine collector if that helps...

[Update] Issue resolved. Many thanks to the community for helping out.

        • OBDeleven OBD11 in Canberra

Hi! I'm in Canberra and recently had to buy a OBDeleven Pro pack to fix a safety issue in my car because VW service weren't 'allowed to' even though they acknowledged the safety fault existed. (Car would randomly not overtake cars in ACC mode when legally overtaking in the right lane.) They even told me I could do it myself with this device. Sigh.

The Pro subscription is for a year, so if anyone in Canberra needs to fix/change something in their VW/Skoda/Audi, I'm willing to help for a donated shiraz or $20. (It needs to be my app login adding your car to my 'garage', so I won't lend it out.)

All I'd ask is you do some research and know what in the OBDeleven App (long coding / adaptations) you need to change so we're not starting from scratch and taking a long time - especially with many things being in German!

Things I changed in my 2022 Skoda: undertaking prevention off / auto rear wiper off / (normal) cruise control option enabled.

I'm not monitoring this forum, so please PM me.

          • Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if I posted in the wrong section.
I have a Passat B7 on which I activated the "rain closing" function, and it works fine.
To clarify, the car originally had a BCM unit with the part number 3AA937087H, and I replaced it with 3AA937087R to make this function possible.
The RLS sensor has the part number 1K0 955 559 AH.
However, now I have a problem – the wipers do not work in automatic mode after activating the "rain closing" function. They only work in manual mode. As soon as I deactivate it in the MFA, everything works fine again.
Does anyone know what the issue might be and how to fix it?

              • Hi, is there anyone in Brisbane familiar with retrofitting a digital gauge cluster into a Mk7 Golf R? Will need coding.

Cant do that just with VCDS, need to sort out component protection as well. which needs ODIS

                  • @h100vw: Hmm......... with the deepest respect for your view (and with absolutely no offense intended) - the need to deal with CP really depends on how OP plans to "retrofit a digital gauge" on his mk7.

Yes, if a complete module swap is used - CP becomes an issue immediately after the first ignition switch-ON. However, if OP chooses the product HERE, then no CP (because the basic CAN part of the original module is retained and the analogue clocks are replaced

So, if OP has an interest, there's a good write-up HERE

                    Don
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

                    • Thank you. Dang sounds complicated. I guess I'll stick with analogue dials for now lol

None taken, youre saying that there's digital dashes that don't need CP dealing with? Because the original cluster is modified, not replaced whole?

                        • h100vw: Indeed!!

Obviously the Aliexpress solution is non-OEM - but it works by retaining the CAN based part of the original analogue module and it requires the installer to remove the clock-board and replace it with a new digital daughter board. This extra work ain't difficult albeit it does require a degree of care!

Retention of the original smarts on the factory mother board means that from the perspective of the CP interrogation algorithm (which is orchestrated by the Gateway module - i.e. the master CP module) - the identity of the dashboard module remains unaltered.

The other advantage of this solution is that the original odometer reading is kept and there is no need to re-code the Immobilizer authorizations (i.e. keys) - again because the factory electronics of the original module is retained.

Of course, I make no judgement about the quality of Aliexpress stuff - but at least in theory, it's a neat alternative approach to retrofitting an AID dashboard on MQB platform cars - IMHO

                          Don

                          • Everyday is a school day!!

Some aliexpress stuff is great. I prefer not to be the test subject, however I guess you have to be prepared for the consequences, early failure or doesnt work at all and doing the job twice. Once over that hurdle, it's acceptable risk
