Has anyone had their bora tuned or ecu chipped? Been on google a bit but cant really find and information on the subject. From what i have read these 2.8 engines are not really de-rated from the factory.....any help would be much appreciated.

You're right, not much to be gained. I have tuned a few and the driveability is improved but it's obviously not like doing a turbo car.
I don't really promote NA tunes as the bang for buck doesn't work in my mind.
There was someone lurking around here years ago that engineered a turbo onto a Bora VR6! not sure what happened to that car but sounded fun.
If you want more juice out of a naturally aspired engine you need to port, polish and put on a bigger exhaust from the extractors to past the catalytic converter, then do a custom remap. Unless you have a workshop at your disposal you'll find that to be an expensive exercise for a Bora. A cheaper option might be to shave off a few kg from weight saving. Get an AGM battery, light wheels, no spare and diet to lose 10kg
