Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That's...interesting. In a "how the hell did they come up with that?" kind of way.

They look better. Still good gains compared to APR etc.

Apart from the lack of local support is there any reason not to purchase a bluefin for Mk7 GTI directly from a UK retailer? Are there any mapping differences to take into account local fuel quality or temperatures?

i have ran bluefin in my mk6 gti and mk6 r since 2011 and i would say the support is probably better and it suits my needs as they are open during brisbane evening times.

            they respond to emails quick.

it is probably the most conservative and safest tune but at the cost of lack of grunt (less than local tunes).

I purchased my Bluefin stage 1 from Demon Tweeks in the UK fir about $650 shipped. The change in power and torque is great, but I'm coming from a 270rwkw S14a Silvia so the power is still not enough for me. I'm going stage 2 shortly. But all in all I'm pretty happy with the product, service so far.

Alba European in Brisvegas is also a local distributor.

I have had a look at some Australian distributors but the cost is around $250-300 more than sourcing the unit directly. Not a massive amount of cash but a worthwhile saving. From my limited knowledge the software still has to come from the UK so whether the new unit is sourced from an Australian distributor or from a UK retailer shouldn't really matter?

So you're saying bluefin/superchips in the UK will undercut their own distributors in Aus and allow retailrs in the UK to give the unit and tune to you for $300 cheaper than a local distributor can give it to you? This does not seem right to me, particularly noting the AUD is not great against other foreign currencies at the moment either. What price are UK quoting you?

I paid exactly $638 aud and that includes exchange rates and delivery. I didn't go directly through Superchips UK. I went through Demon Tweeks. The support and service has been awesome from Superchips UK so far.

As far as I'm concerned, the support I would get from any Aus distributor vs the UK business is no different. All communication is via email anyway so I'm not fussed whether it comes from Sudney or UK. Same same
