The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Catalytic converter for 3" system that wont throw a CEL?

Im looking for advice on a 3" cat to go in my Mk5 Gti system.

Im doubting i can get away with a 100cpi cat so im hoping some people gave some experience with some of the 200cpi units available.

I am currently looking at a Magnaflow stainless 200cpi unit as used in the CTS pre fab'd systems but i have read a few reviews stating they can throw a CEL.

I guess if all else fails i can get an XForce 400cpi unit and hope it does not throw a CEL but.... XForce

Anybody here have experience with aftermarked cats on VAG 2.0t fsi?

          Only in the US

I ended up purchasing a Venom 200cpi 3" cat. I'm expecting it to throw CEL's but i'll get a spacer of some description. If you guys know of anyone locally who does them, please let me know or i'll just grab one from ECS and put up with the CEL's till then.

Is there any possibility of the CPU going into limp home mode or anything similar if the lights are too frequest or stay on too long?

          Thanks!

Get a spacer off ebay they all work teh same way. No limp mode but why wouldn't you get a tune to make the most of the downpipe?

Already Have a GIAC tune im happy with but apparantly it does not do away with the CEL's.

Might consider a different tune a little bit later down the track but certainly not till i fit a decent intercooler.

Surely GIAC have a tune update to reduce the sensitivity of the secondary o2 sensor so that it wont trigger a CEL....especially for a popular engine/car such as the Mk5 GTI.
