Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

rgvlee is the only guy that has one in Australia that I am aware of.

I can bench flash your ECU if you are just looking at Phase 1. I do have a spare ECU with no immobiliser in it. Which I can send to keep you on the road.

How long are you here for, can you get it sent over?

I don't know anything about the Flashwire, like if it's locked to the VIN or something?? It was never designed to be sent out from agents, only the HQ in the UK.

What tune are you looking at, Phase 1 or 2?

I heard back from the UK at the weekend. The Flashwire cable is VIN locked once used, so you can't move them around unfortunately.

If you get a Phase 2 tune, because you have a downpipe and high flow cat, putting the VW tune back on will cause a CEL inside of a few 100km as the ECU detects the "cat inefficiency".

So really I don't see any benefit except the remote tuning capability.

If you wanted the ability to restrict performance, for younger driver or whatever, you can do that with an ebay VCDS cable and unisettings.

I see good to know that.
I'd probably only go Stage 1 mapping then reset when selling.

I'll hold out and see if the flash wires come in stock else I might just sell & buy an R32

Why put back to stock for selling?
