Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Haha...its going to take time to get those parts. Three hall senders, battery and most ignition parts new has slowed getting MORE things right down and a lambda sensor etc.
But will go into hock just to ....so will see about it soon.
Had to take the dash off to get mine so a wrecker will want more for that..uuhg!

      OK..back..hope Chrissy was nice.
I now have the stuff for the swap. A few things for note, the replacements look like their older so a little bit of wiring s needed for a fit, and I'll try the ecu with vcds but not Start with it yet.
Also the key reader that I already have will do? Or do I need to make compatible it own one with its ecu?
So I'll try tomorrow, get it working with them and back track the components until the offender is found.
Sounds odd doing it this way, auto eleccys might have been easier!? But it will now rule out any doubt what is flooding current about.

Just to elaborate about the reader...my existing reader won't need to be replaced with the changed immo will it? Just programming any different keys in line with the immo requirements is all that's needed there!? Pretty sure.

Your original key reader will be fine.

          That's good.
Another thing the ecu has a different part number..

Drop the e for my original, will that effect us much?

..and that's great, or do you mean not great?
This isn't..! "Too many Excessive com errors to continue" reading the ecu, no fault codes found for a removed airbag and no light...??thats odd and there's black gunk in the vacume tube to the motorola in ecu. Won't start still.
In an effort I Changed starter solenoid (the last suspect)but no kick..also checked power from ignition to starter which it has but drops out when turned...this mightily sounds like the distributor hall senders gone (and have replaced this 4 times so far ((AU$130 a time))).
              I'm out of ideas.
Thanks for everyone's input, anyone now know how to get into the contents of the other ecu?
              Maybe recode it?
