Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • APR in Perth - limited options

I am looking for the Stage 1 APR tune on a Polo GTI 9N3. I have just taken ownership of the car.

I contacted Quattro Motors in Burswood to make a booking plus a bit of other work. As I was a new customer, I was fairly bluntly told that they are booked out until the end of November, and then will be moving to a new premises. They could not tell me an ETA on when they would reopen.

So, as the only APR dealer in Perth, what am I supposed to do? Wait until 2015?

I am considering the Custom-Code DIY option instead.

Hit up rgvlee about the #Flashwire, he has done his with Phase 2 in Perth. Or email me below. I have other options which might also suit your situation.

                cheers Lucas.

Bold statement or not...I did qualify it with "I might be wrong, but......."

I am not normally inclined to make such "bold" statements without some truth to it.

oh cummon Steve, you know how rumours work, you state "I might be wrong but"... and some one will read it as fact.

The story in that link merely says APR has been bought out by someone else.

Nothing to suggest that Golf tunes, probably their biggest piece of business, won't carry on business as usual

                    Oh come on Gareth,
Let's not twist what I wrote.
I cannot be held responsible if others read a different interpretation (just like you seem to have) to what I type.
The story in that link backs up what I had heard, and that is "APR is no more". The fact that they have been taken over/bought out by another company adds more speculation to what guarantee or warranty one might get with an APR tune.
The OP has a Polo. No one is talking about tuning Golfs in this thread, until you mentioned it. The OP is looking for a tune for his Polo, not a Golf.
Someone is going to read your post and put a whole new twist on thread. Ironic isn't it?

Guys can we keep it on-topic thanks.

OP wants to know how/where he can get his car tuned in WA. You're both local but haven't come up with any suggestions/recommendations????

If you're really struggling you could look at removing your ECU and shipping it interstate for a bench flash. But I'd only do this as a last resort.

If you do want to go with APR and the dealer is that busy, I'd suggest booking in December as APR often run a special on their tunes at Christmas.

OP, I would suggest you also consider APR, installed by Quattro.

The fact that they cant do the work until November is because they are very busy and get booked up a lot, surely that in itself is a pretty decent reference for you.

Quattro basically wouldn't take any more bookings for a new customer for the rest of the year.

My point is that Quattro are the only registered dealer of APR in WA - and I cannot get a booking.

yeas, I can understand if they are moving premises.

However, I'd suggest you focus on deciding what brand you want first, then worry about the installation second.

You have to live with your choice

perhaps contact Guy Harding, who is the Australian distributor of APR and seek his advice under the circumstances
