After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Importing a Milltek exhaust from the UK?

After getting the APR stage 1 tune i'm now considering a Milltek exhaust system, just trying to decide where to get it from and whether to get turbo back or cat back. The agents that supply Milltek in Sydney seem fairly expensive (from what i have seen so far although i'm still waiting to get a few quotes back).
I got a quote from a company in the UK (TSR Performance VW / Audi / Seat / Skoda - Performance Tuning ) and they were quoting the following:

Non res cat back with AEV = $1,307 (includes shipping to Oz)
without AEV = $1,017 (includes shipping to Oz)

Non res turbo back (cat back, down pipe & cat) with AEV = $2,324 (includes shipping to Oz)
without AEV = $2,034 (includes shipping to Oz)

I'd imagine i'd need to add another $200 for installation at Volksmuller or the like, but it still seems a fair bit cheaper than buying direct in Oz?

Just not sure whether i need AEV, and whether the full system is worth the extra $....any ideas what difference in performance a full system would give me? And is the AEV worth considering?

Has anyone used TSR in the UK before?

    Cheers

    Will

Not forgetting import duty? Exhaust > Golf Mk6 2009- on > VW Golf > VW Specialists > PSI Tuning - VW Specialists Try PSITuning as well. A friend of mine does the quotes and shipping.

PS nothing wrong with TSR that I am aware of, although it ages since Tim was there himself.

Good call, i didn't think about import tax. How do i work out what that could potentially sting me for?

Doesn't it need to be over $1000 in value for it to attract import duty???

      Cheers will email PSI now....

Also, if i go for the full turbo back system, do i need to go from stage 1 APR tune to Stage 2 to get full benefits?

I'd say yes for the turbo back question. Duty is 10% on the total value, without shipping I believe. But I could be wrong.

Might be worth 2 parcels, if the maths works out in your favour.

Technically if you split the order you're still liable, but that's down to if customs notice and put them together.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Orange Tuning in Germany might be worth a try. I found its price quite a bit cheaper than my UK quotes probably because it uses DHL for shipping. Cat back for my Polo was 639 euros delivered mid last year when our AU dollar was very healthy. You will not see the Milltek mentioned on the web site but ask Frank for a price.

Only problem will be that it will take 4 weeks for delivery! and the prices you have been quoted from the UK look very good.
