basic advantage of a lightened flywheel is to allow a quicker rev....less weight to push around therefore more hp for the right foot to use..this is it basically....alloy will have a steel face as the pressure plate/ clutch plate will I thought mince one pretty quick.....disadvantage is the thinner the flywheel the quicker it heats up ..faster wear rate....I hope it makes a bit of sense...oh yer less mass at the flywheel causes hills to be felt a little earlier

I've had mine lobbed back to 12.5lbs. Make sure someone reputable does it, though, as if it's imbalanced, you're motor will go up **** creek pretty quick.
If the material is removed from the right place, it will mean the factory TDC mark is cut off, though, so MAKE SURE IT IS MARKED BACK ON AND NOT WITH A BLOODY TEXTA!!!!!!
here's a pic of mine:

I've taken over her entire house and live there more than my own until the car is done!!
At one stage, I had body panels in 5 different rooms
Even now, both her sheds and garage are full up
