The Yanks love to analyse everything though, nearly all who bought a vwr intake over there (well, nearly all forum posters) was also data logging with vcds, how many do that here?

A lot of people do their own logging here now and a lot of cables are shared around between mates too. I have several logs and fault codes for lean fuel trims beyond the specified limit for intakes, 1 in particular but i better not post any up as im not a forum sponsor.

Yep, the point I was making was the issue about bad trims for the VWR became very well known about in the US forums, but that is not to say it is a US only issue, it is just it was logged a whole lot less here...

Well I am a sponsor and cannot recommend the Tarmac intake highly enough, especially at the PRICE, which is impossible to beat. Awesome product, credit where credit is due. I'd have one tomorrow. I wish I had such a good intake to sell at such an incredible price. I have recommended lots of people that way, and I have intakes available to me to sell for good profit - I believe in Tarmac's that much - unlike others that just sell you what they have regardless.

My R is wearing "Tarmac" product, admittedly, cosmetic but it stands up to my anally retentive quality control and from what I've been told, read and seen across forums and in person, I have no doubt the rest of the products are quality and based on considerable research, testing and quality control. A big brand name is not always what makes a product "good".

So I'm tossing up between a few different intakes for my Scirocco R right now, and the 3 contenders i now need to decide on are the Volant, the VWR and the CTS CAI's. Volant (Tarmac) seems to be the best value for money at the moment with CTS coming a close second.

What difference is there in the US manufactured Volant compared to the Tarmac ones sold in AUS?

Volant PowerCore Cold Air Intake Systems for VW (Dry Filter) - Volant PowerCore (Dry Filter) Cold Air Intake 2011-2013 Volkswagon VW Golf R12 2.0 (USA Spec Only)

This store says USA spec only, but really i cant see anything different about it except the cost is about half what we pay here.

Same applies to the others too, just factor in shipping to Aus from the US once you can work it out and then check this against the Aus provider with their own shipping, GST and delivery from a local point and you'll be surprised how it works out. Also the Volant one comes with a heatshield if bought locally

Its made by an American company called HPFPUpgrade. Up to you whether you think its worth the asking price.

                            Reviving an old thread:

Would this intake fit a 2007 Jetta 2.0 TFSI? If so, can you retain the original engine cover, or does this have to be removed in order to fit the new intake?

                            Cheers

Lucas is spot on, the only way to keep the OEM cover is to cut the back part off it but it's a bigger job than it sounds
