Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

A couple of hard launches and the 8v gearbox is most likely to go first before anything.

So have u started to build one yet?

      Oh right, my bad

There are a fair few 500hp + cars that have been running since the car came out in 02'! You just can't be raw cubic inches mated with forced induction!

very true, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure we can't fit a 240T barra into the pogo. we'll we could. but it would costly and impractical.

        mind you. a 1000Hp pogo???

One day, when I'm really really rich....

Some crazy guy has put two r32 motors in a Lupo, so anything is possible in to a Polo.

Or if you ever want to extravagantly want to launder money ! You wouldn't be the first either...

You've gotta love the Barra 240T though, a chip and an a properly set up LSD can run high ten's! I'll definately consider a turbo if end up getting my Bora, 350 at the wheel hp... hmnnn tasty...

you would never think though that the 2L 8v would have some much potential and is so easy to tune when everyone goes for a 16v?! when you have to spend $2000-ish on a 16v why wouldnt you spend a little extra and do a turbo set up for more power and fun?!

Valver havent got your reply yet mate

yea, you kinda need a bit more than a chip mate, mind you throw 10 large at an XR6T and you'll get close... (to tens)

You should have read the Performance ford write up for it a few years back... they built a 10.9 second xr6t for 8 grand running the stock turbo. They got it running 12's without the LSD, and after tweaking around with it got that time...

But then again, I'm pretty sure that was an advertorial type write up, I doubt that level of expertise could be gotten for the amount they said they paid.

XR6T's always came with an LSD so i dont know where thats coming from. My best mate works at Nizpro which are XR6T specialists and reckons to run 10's you will need 300+rwkw plus a hi-stall converter. Nizpro's Stage 2 kit for 330rwkw consists of the following and costs $8250

Increased boost to a still low 1 Bar
(Note: that due to the severe intake restrictions with the factory product, that in stock trim the turbocharger is working much harder than the low .5 Bar factory pressure indicates. In fact, in an effort to overcome the inherent pressure drop it must run at close to 0.8 Bar)

                        • Custom cast alloy intake plenum

                        • Heat shrink
                        • Oil breather hose
                        • PCV hose

                        • Battery cable
                        • Battery cable clips
                        • Large intercooler
                        • Several bolts, washers, T-pieces, loom extensions and earth clip
                        • Inlet Manifold, Intercooler, Intake Manifold and Battery tray nuts
                        • Brass fittings for plenum intake pipe, breather return hose and thermostat housing

And then you still need to think about putting the power to the ground. Apparently their 1200hp XR6T never ran a 10 cos it couldnt get the power down.
