put a bluefin stage 1 tune onto my MKV GTI and after about 2.5-5k km the following symptoms suddenly happened:

    - revs continue to climb/jump rather than dropping when engaging clutch to change gears
    - cruise control doesnt work
    - surges up to around 3000rpm
    - very rough & jerky through the rev change and gear changes

Problem is even after returning to stock, all symptoms still exist. Have had clutch switch & throttle body replaced which did not fix the issue.

Contacted Bluefin who said since the problem still exists after returning to stock, they don't believe it is tune related.

Currently testing the ECU for a possible ECU issue which I hope it is not :s
I'd be thinking its not tune related too and being a mkV there are a few other components that may need looking at eg MAF or diverter valve. Is it running the stock intake still ?

Anyway, drove to work today and so far so good but they say they may have only masked the problem and it may come back as the part deteriates more. Just think i am going to stick a new O2 sensor on anyway just for safe measures.

I'll you all up dated if things change.
That would be unusual for a 2010 I would think

Change of plan, going to first get the MAF sensor and O2 sensors checked first before I replace them, they are quite expensive. Not enjoying this experience at all so far.

Update. Just had the car checked over by the Snap on Diagnostic tool and there is no reading from the O2 sensor after ther cat. Bank 1 sensor 2. Does anybody know if this may cause flat spot issues? He is having the car tomorrow to run full checks when it is in stock.

Hopefully the next time I am on here I am saying how sweet things are. Final diagnoses, mechanic claims misfires in cylinder 3 due to brand new NGK plugs being not gapped the same, he also claims he has reduced the gap to 0.026 inch to clear up a misfire that I never noticed but his machine picked up. The rear O2 sensor, the one after the Cat has no output at all except when it gets very hot then the reading goes through the roof and this will effect the fuel trim so he says and this nasty flat spot that I have, which does feel like a fuel trim issue. Everything else checks out from front O2 sensor to MAF sensor to boost pressure.

Before the arguments start everybody has a different opinion regarding the rear O2 sensor and its effect on fuel trim, some say yes some say no, we will just have to see and hopefully this will be it.

See you in 2 days for the results.

First two symptoms sound like the clutch switch.

Final thoughts. It's been a few days now and love it. The power is excellent right through the rev range. The car still drives normal if you use the first 30% of the throttle, anything after and you get the big WHOOOOSHHH! And away you go. Superchips were very patient with me and my issues and seemed to do everything they could to help me regarding the issues. When I let them know it was fixed they even sent me another map which was more standard rather than the one I had to try and fix the flat spot.

I may be the last person to have my gti tuned but just in case anybody is going to use Superchips I highly recommend that your car be in the best shape it can, also having a person who can run some VCDlogs for you just for the final check as these could be useful for Superchips if there is any issues and for your piece of mind that everything is ok.

Thank you to everyone here for their thoughts and advice.

Well you saw my logs. Were they something to be worried about haha?

And good to see you found your issue reedy

Ok. Here we go again. Power is good but now is very jerky or surgy and just some of the time. 80% throttle in 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear there is a fair bit of whooshing going on like it builds boost then let's a little go and then builds it again, making it a not very smooth power delivery. On top of all this sometimes at around 2500 rpm when I am wanting boost there is none and takes it time to build especially when in 4th and build speed from 1500rpm, it gets to 2500rpm hesitates and waits for the boost. If I gradually increase the power it seems to work ok, it's just when I go from say 20% throttle to 70% and above. Plus these issues all seem to be below around 4500rpm.

System readiness test, Evap system fails, all others pass when tune is on, everything passes in stock mode.

Booked in to Volkswagen on Friday and see if they can find anything but will be in stock mode I think, or should I bite the bullet and go tuned?

                        Adam.

Hopefully VW can find something. I'm getting no codes that my scan reader can pick up and the tune must be enhancing this again as stock feels ok, just a little flat. I'll keep you informed.

Yeah, the extra boost would enhance the drama.

The main stealers don't want to know, if there is no engine light on they will not even investigate. Fitted a new N249 valve as symptoms point to this but still no joy. Going to find someone who can actually check for vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks and boost leaks and go from there. Still puzzled as to why the Evap system won't pass the readiness test and will all this be linked to the hesitations I am having.

I will keep you all posted.
