  • Intake with Giac tune

Im currently contemplating which intake to buy for the giac tune stage 2.
im considering between apr carbonio and the awe tuning.

i've heard people recommend awe tuning along with giac...i'm not sure the reason why...
is it neccessary to relocate the MAP sensor? since APR don't need to relocate, does that mean it doesn't flow as good as intakes that relocates?

    please share your experiences..thanks.

I've got the APR Carbonio (and stage II tune with large exhaust down pipe) and it works just fine,
lot's of air & whistle noises when using large throttle settings

In general, gains from a CAI are pretty small...

                    Intake with Giac tune

The VWR intake for the Mk6 GTI doesnt relocate the MAF sensor. Neither does the APR intake. The MAF sensor is located just near the battery and it doesnt move, but everything prior to the MAF is replaced with the new intake.

The Golf R and GTI 35 use a different setup to the normal GTI.

relocation for the MAF housing is only necessary if the design does away with the factory MAF housing.
The factory MAF housings generally contains an airflow straightener which helps reduce any turbulence across the MAF.
On a full replacement intake you will find the MAF will generally be relocated to after a bend which helps straighten out the airflow which can be quite turbulent after it passes through a pod filter

I had a BSC intake that was causing problems. I am now running a VWR intake and very happy with it so far.
Though I cant say I get the Vacuum cleaner sound.

There was a flaw in the MK6 GTI BCS intake design. The cross sectional area of the MAF was not correct causing the car to run too rich. We have since been modifying them to re-use the stock MAF housing and they are now working nicely. Anything that follows that path should most likely work just fine.
