Short shifter / pedals

Hi all,

Just chasing a short shifter and wondering if anyone's installed a Dieselgeek version in their MKV? I got the link from a post here some time ago, and would like to order one in. Further, as I'm a poor mechanic, any thoughts n what installation would set me back?

Also, I'm considering adding some sports pedals to the car and have no idea where to find them. I can't imagine getting kits from Supercheap? Can anyone suggest a retailer that sells stylish looking sporty kind of pedals that I can fit to my GT Sport? I think I saw an installation on youtube a while back so I imagine I could at least fit them?

Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

There's a thread on the dieselgeek for the Mk6; quite a few guys on here have fitted it and were very happy with the results. Check out the thread, there should be a fair bit of useful info for you:

You will be able to fit the GTi pedals from a MK5 to your car if you wish. The link below shows the pedals for a DSG, but perhaps you can get in touch with Bold Sport and ask if they can source the manual pedals for you.

As for the DieselGeek short shifters, you are best off to order one directly from DiesekGeek if you want one. I recently sold mine as my fiance didnt like it, and i must admit it frustrated me at times too. Its very notchy and i found it hard to get into gear at times (despite multiple adjustments).

If you are purely after a shorter throw then you might want to consider this: OEM Short Shifter Kit

Its an original VW short shifter. I am considering getting one of these to shorten the throw a bit without compromising comfort/useability etc.

If you want to improve the feel of the shift, perhaps consider these: VW Shifter bushing set mkv 6 speed my06 2006 gti tdi golf jetta mk5

or these (depends on the year of your car): VW Mk5 Shifter bushing set 6 speed MY07 gear shift MKv GTI TDI Comfortline Sportline Pacific Jetta Golf

These replace the stock shifter bushings (which are rubber) with solid metal bushings. I recently bought some but havent fitted them yet.

I had the dieselgeek in my S3 (Mk4 equivalent) and it was fantastic to use. I had a mechanic instal it, and supposedly its all about setup of spacers/shims during installation.

I'd recommend the dieselgeek, as long as the installer knows what they are doing
