Guys, I'm going to shift this topic to the Tuning forum, as that's really where it belongs, even though it's been started with a focus on the 'Roc. You'll find there's actually loads of good info in there relating to tunes for the EA113 + K04, thanks to the Golf R and ED35. Having this thread in there also means it's easier for the tune reps to see and comment if and as required.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It is highly unlikely that will ever occur as all the reputable tuners leave plenty of headroom (safety margin) on their tunes.
If you drive it like you stole it all day every day then eventually you will break things... but that goes for the stock car as well..
Yes... VWA could well see that you have tuned the car and NO having the ability to go back to stock (with V-Switch) will NOT alter that. There are plenty of hidden areas that VW could go in the software to gain logs of everything that has happened to your car... If they really need to and in general... they don't need to and it would not be done by a Dealer anyway.
Bottom line... these are Performance Cars.. feed them the right diet of 98 and service them (preferably more often than 15,000 km or 12 months) and they will continue to perform and provide you immense fun.2012 Scirocco R - Candy White, DSG, Panoramic Roof, RNS510 Sat Nav, Dynaudio upgrade, tints & 19inch Black Talladega Wheels.

It is highly unlikely that will ever occur as all the reputable tuners leave plenty of headroom (safety margin) on their tunes.
However, if a driveline part failed, then it's a grey area, and is basically up to your dealer to decide whether to honour your warranty claim or not. If you're not happy with the dealer's decision then you could visit another dealer or escalate the issue to VW Australia, or go even further by pursuing legal action. AFAIK, we haven't seen an example of this on the forums. What we have seen are examples of claims being refused on the grounds of mechanical modifications - I recall one instance where a CV joint replacement wasn't covered due to Stage II mods being made to a MkV GTI.
I would suggest that anyone who's considering a tune think very carefully about the implications ref warranty, before purchasing a tune. I'd suggest you should be prepared for the eventuality of a loss of warranty over certain specific parts if you tune - with the knowledge that a specific failure is unlikely and that the majority of tuners out there provide a safe and high quality product that is intended to operate with OEM hardware within safe - but tighter - tolerances.
As an aside - a couple of tuners do offer a warranty product that is designed to protect owners in the advent of a warranty claim refusal by VW, on the grounds of tuning.Last edited by AdamD; 13-03-2012, 12:50 PM.2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

Nothing wrong with Bluefin at all mate. They are well priced, and provide a nice increase in power, its just that in general they are a bit milder in terms of power gains than the more expensive tunes.
I had Bluefin on my Golf R and it gave me a dyno proven 20kw and 50nm gain at the wheels. For $700 its pretty damn good. One of the guys on vwgolf.net.au has the stage 3 Bluefin tune on his car, and is only 10kw and 40nm down on someone else who had a full custom tune. Both cars were tested on the same dyno.
And support from Superchips is great. Due to the time difference between us and the UK, all responses you get from them are in the evening from around 7pm - 10pm.

Go with whatever company you feel most comfortable with in terms of communication, support and ease of future mods.
For me, Viezu won because of the ongoing ability to upgrade, plus where I am moving there are no tuning companies.
For others APR, Giac, Revo etc work well.
You will be getting similar results with most of them. Some may get a few kw more or less, or deliver the power in a different way. But all the established players are generally pretty good.Audi S3. Sold

lucky for you guys, viezu have now got a VERY strong presence in australia, not to mention simon and greg from this forum who are very, very good in the communication/ customer service department.
before the receptionists in the chippeduk HQ in Worcestershire started saying "welcome to viezu..." instead of "welcome to chippeduk" (sorry simon!), feedback and communication was a big part of why i went with chippeduk - even though it was over the other side of the world, talking with jayson (founder of chippeduk) over the phone and via email, was all seamless and left me in no doubt that this was the option for me.
thankfully, there are lots of reliable tuners in oz now, unlike the 2 or 3 ''big brands'' as little as 4 years ago.
my 2c.

If you want to package it up, other tuners offer good packages. It's the usual thing, your money, your choice. Unless you get something of ebay there is no right or wrong choice. Just slightly different results and slightly different approaches to how things are done.
I like competition in the market. It forces others to lift their game, drop their prices and rethink how they are positioned in the market. It's a win for consumers.Audi S3. Sold

Viezu will indeed be doing packages, with "Viezu Racing" being far bigger than even I knew about, so you can DIY your mods, or buy a complete deal. I'll also be aiming to add the Carformance range to those package deals, to cater for various pricepoints. Exciting times, just want to fast forward to when it's all sorted!!2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

so greg, will the viezu/carformance suite of options potentially involve gt1749vb (and up) turbo upgrades for the 8v tdi's, including mapping etc?
i only ask as our turbos are all going to blow one day, and from what i've seen overseas, gt1749vb's are cheaper, by a couple of hundred dollars, than replacement kkk kp39's/ borg warner bv39's for the pd100 engine...

I have no control over what hardware Viezu release locally, but hope to be offering Darkside later this year, so there will be TDI love!2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |
