Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Me too!
Also curious as to the quoted $60, is that correct? ya don't get much for 60 bucks these days... Half an hour labour?
Another also - Clay do you know whether the ECU takes care of the enrichment & other such variables associated with the exhaust back-pressure changes from such mod's? How would it effect the 'tune' ?
      Cheers, Matt

The resonator is the easiest part to remove since you just need a straight pice of stainless piping and 2 welds.
$60 is probably cost price for the work.

The ecu doesn't require any tuner changes for the muffler delete, it may need some for the resonator delete since it is closer to the engine and may affect the oxygen sensor.

Bear in mind the exhaust has to pass through the cat and the resonator so the rear muffler is basically just there to reduce noise rather than affecting the power of the vehicle.

Nindey, are you still around? Are you still running the Tig without the resonator? Curious as to your thoughts on the exercise, 6 months later...
I personally had been fairly keen to give this mod a try, but after a little research online & some calls to Volkspower & a couple of exhaust shops, have decided to give it a miss...
Issues with error codes, adverse performance ('upsetting the orchestra'), compliance, police, sounding like a fart, sounding like a commodore, etc have made this 'sound' less appealing...
Anyone else had this done, got any feedback?
