Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

ran mk2 on my g-tech. good for 15.9 best run.
I havnt ran the mk1 yet, but should be good for a laugh.
GTiR has run a 12.5 before latest mods.
Id be thinking around high 11s....maybe
        Cheers, Benny

With my new engine having done about 50,000 ks, I timed about 8-9 secs to 100kmph. Thats with the old man in the passanger side with a stopwatch. Not very accurate but fun never the less. That was when I had the diesel box in.
Not sure what the times would be with the gti box now but I would say it wouldnt be to far of.

It certainly does surprise alot of the bogans kicking around in their clapt out cordia turbos, excels, pulsars etc.

          Always fun

          !!!! Go the MK1's !!!!

did the drags about 2 years ago in a mk1 golf and did a 14.9 and this was untunned, had roof racks on and a huge tool box full of tools in the boot. it was kind of funny because they was a guy there with a 2ltr pulsar n/a trying to get times for the fastest fwd n/a, and we kept beating him buy a second, he had all the seats out and everything, not happy that he was losing to vw power!!!!!!
we blew the engine then rebuilt the engine dropped it into my mk1 and took it to the drags wed 18, but could only do a 16.4 but have have changed some stuff to the car. we are going to change them back get it tunned and hopefully get high 13 - to low 14, i might come back out to willow back to run if i have it al done but then

Im looking for some more mods to break 200hp, then i plan to supercharge the 2.8, looking for 300hp@ the wheels.
dont think your going to nudge 200hp at the fly with just zorst and intake? I have exactly that but havnt seen that much improvement?

Anyways, ran the VR6 down tonight, two runs as follows:

              ................First Run......Second Run
              Reaction.....1.129...........1.022
              60ft...........2.298...........2.300
              E.T............14.950.........14.821
              Mph...........93.57...........94.08

I reckon I could get it down a fraction more, just needed one or two more runs!

I'm thinking that dropping the clutch at round 3500-3700rpm would be just right.

Just a better launch I guess, im thinking i can get it down a smigin more with a bit more juice of the line as it takes a couple of runs to get used to that sticky-icky track!

Ive just got iridium plugs (prob due for a change), nology leads, 2.25" press bent cat-back zorst and a K&N pod . . . . Was happy as though as I beat my mate driving his dc5 tegra typeR both times!

I have higher top speeds, and we have simular 60ft times. i couldn't get anygrip off the line, the track was slippery as. I need to take anouther trip to the strip i think
