Superchips Bluefin Remap for my Skoda is Rubbish!

I have a 1.8TSI with Bluefin. The only issue I had with it was 2 big detonations immediatly after install as I got up it too fast going up the hill out of Maianbar. After that it was sweet as a nut - better than the OEM map.
You still haven't said how many kilometres the car has done......?
IIRC, the Bluefin handheld device has some limited logging or error reading capabilities - possibly even the ability to reset your CEL. What happens sometimes is that the ECU can be logging error codes but you won't get a CEL until a predetermined number is reached (say 50 error codes = CEL).
Don't go changing parts at random without a proper diagnosis. Also, I wouldn't get too carried away in public as you will probably have to put it back to stock to get the fault fixed
What part of Sydney are you in? You can borrow my VCDS cable if you'd like.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

what Year model is your car? and it's manual iirc??
thats what i was going to do on the way home today, is run some data logs using the bluefin.
that would be great but i have no idea on what to do with it!
Is it possible that SC could be sending me a MANUAL remap, not a DSG one?
Because it is only being "held back" right in the meat of the torque. up top in the rev range it is all fine.
plausible maybe?Last edited by muggo05; 25-05-2011, 03:12 PM.MY16 VW Golf GTI - Carbon Steel - Manual

I am near Castle Hill in the hills area. that would be great but i have no idea on what to do with it!I'm down near Hurstville. I have no idea what to log either. A mate gave me his cable when he sold his VW. You really should be going through the process under the guidance of Superchips or their agent. It will take some time but probably worth it.

Ok another update.
Have heard back from my Supplier in NZ. I sent him the 3 emails that i sent to SCUK outlining everything that I have put here and what has happened. He agrees that i should have heard something from SuperChips UK and has forwarded the emails on to UK for them to reply to me directly and urgently. He has also asked his head of R&D what he thinks and he will be getting back to him shortly.
He also said that he is down in wollongong next week, and depending on what happens before then, he is happy to come to me to try and get it sorted if we have to. Finally saying that they will get me sorted one way or another.
Now that is just what I wanted/needed to hear. So now the waiting game to see what everyone comes up with. I said that i am willing to take a day off work and meet him in wollongong if there is a tuner or whatever down there who can get it logged/dynoed/tuned etc. to get it sorted.
Will keep the updates coming as I hear something.Last edited by muggo05; 25-05-2011, 03:13 PM.MY16 VW Golf GTI - Carbon Steel - Manual

muggo05, hope you get your issues sorted out...sooner rather than later.
I am glad I went local with an agent here in Sydney - at least if there is any drama, I know where I can go to get support/warranty.2011 Mk6 GTI | CW | DSG | Bi-Xenon | GIAC | APR TBE | THS FMIC | Modshack

I installed the Superchips remap for my MY11 Golf 118 TSI earlier this year. Like you I was directed to Peter James in NZ when I made my initial enquiry, so not much opportunity for follow up from the dealer when he's not even in the same country. The initial installation attempt was unsuccessful. Tried again and it installed okay, albeit with a fault message (don't remember which one) which went out after a couple of re-starts. I drove the car for a few days with no problems, but to be honest could not see much of a performance improvement. I contacted Superchips in the UK and they informed me that the re-map they had sent was for a manual, whereas my car is DSG. Don't know why they got it wrong as I had clearly given the correct details when I ordered the Bluefin. They immediately sent me another re-map. I successfully installed it and haven't had any problems since. There is definitely an improvement, although it wasn't immediately apparent. It is much more obvious when in "Sport" mode.

I just ran the diagnostics part of the Bluefin and it threw up an ECU DTC - U0100.
Does anyone either know what this is, or can point me to where i can find out? Google has returned no joy.sigpic

Well, it looks like my Bluefin auto-responded to receive a manual file not a DSG one.
One of the Superchips boffins is reviewing the file and smoothing out the torque at lower rpms for better driveability for me.
Fingers crossed that it might be this simple!

If there is a level of not be careful with their files then it is possible the OP of this thread has also got a duff tuned file. As people know they are very dangerous. Pinging is not good for an engine.
Just out of interest, have you guys got after installation instructions for the break in driving period ?

my experience with Bluefin Stage 1 for my MY11 GTI was good and smooth.
I had APR downpipe installed last Saturday and went up to Bluefin Stage 2 last night, installed it and 10mnts later drove it around, once the oil temp reached 89 degrees, I did a few WOT runs, the car ran smoothly throughout the rev range to redline although the performance increase was not apparent yet... hopefully in the next few days the ECU will relearn the new tune and perform as promised.
I did however rang Superchips UK twice, sent them an email, asked them many questions prior to going up to Stage 2 and their responses were all good. With regards to DSG or Manual, the latest Bluefin software actually has a section on the bottom left to choose manual or automatic transmission, so that a correct map is downloaded.
I used to have Mk6 Golf 118TSI and not sure if your Skoda has the same 1.4Ltr twincharge engine and 7speed gearbox, but my experience with the 118TSI was far from pleasant. It just had too many issues with the engine and DSG gearbox, to the point it had an engine replacement. So, i'm actually very wary for 118TSI owners getting a tune to increase the performance of the already squeezed to its last juice 1.4Ltr engine...Last edited by nat225; 17-05-2011, 11:59 PM.Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD

Sux that Superchips don't seem to have the quality control on what maps are distributed. Hope it works out for you.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
