Ok I gave myself a test today. One brand new Golf 6 GTi with 700km on the clock. New MED17.5 Tuner protected DME. I have never tuned one of these. So I decided to test myself, base run on dyno in shoot 4 with 28.8AT and 30IT was 126.6kw and 292.2Nm I ran the car three times. Then I allowed it 10 mins low speed running with the main fans in my dyno cell running. I then gave it another run and the figures were within 2kw. I then read the contents of the DME over OBD2, remember this is tuner protected DME. With my newly acquired (expensive) checksum routine I set about tuning it. I completed the entire job in around 4 hours, this included 40mins to hook up the boost reference, what a prick of a place to put it. Anyway all tuning completed in around 31/2 hours, I needed 5 versions before I was happy that no more could be produced. Increase was 149.4Kw and 361Nm at 1bar boost.
Given the same car again I believe I could complete this job in two or three versions. I will endeavour to put up the dyno image.
I would charge $995 to carry out this work on a 2WD GTi. I think that this represents’ good value and remember the software is written specifically for that car, by my in front of you
