Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 16v kjet is running but misses after being reved

its running at idle is good but misses for a short time after being reved

it has new leads new spark plugs new cap and rotor button

its less noticeable when you screw out the idle air by pass screw on the throttle body.

its has new injectors but there for a benz but the plugs dont look fuel fowled

im using the 8v fuel metering head but not reving very high so not running out of fuel

i have a fuel pressure gauge off the top of one of the injector lines it fluctuate a fair bit after reving i suspect the fuel accumulator is at fault anyone got one i cau use to test with?

    other thoughts?
owned a number of mk1 golfs have a collection of spare parts project golf is a 78 2 door

How strong is the fuel pump?

I have an accumulator you can try, but it doesn,t sound like that

If you cycle the pump a couple of times before you start it, car should run ok even without the accumulator. Its only for cold start to maintain fuel pressure.

Also try advancing the dissy timing till the car revs nice up high and then set the mixtur on the metering head and then the idle screw.

Idle screw needs to be be 5 or 6 half turns out from the stop.

    Also check for vacuum leaks.

Just been tuning mine today with the same setup and just now got it sweet as. Question for me is will it start tomorrow??

I hope that you are running a kjet (higher pressure) fuel pump.

I haven't come across a duff accumulator in a long while.
