[part QUOTE=logger;600533]Pretty sure I worked out why my 98 Ron tune spontaneously stopped working without me switching anything.......

Have just finished reading this whole thread.....phew!
Your posts were very informative and as I read them I kept hoping for a favorable
outcome regarding the issues you were experiencing.

Sounds like all is now good with your 118 TSI so just wanted to say that's great
    news and you must relieved

I do, but I seem to be switching to Program 2 nearly every time I start the car now, with unpredictable results when I lean on the accelerator.

From my limited experience, it seems the best way to get the most from the car is to just drive it in whatever mode it is for 20 minutes to allow the engine to warm up, then when you get to a road where you want a bit of performance, pull over, park, switch to Program 2, and head off again.

I'll run a fault check when I get a chance.

So Ryan_R, do you have a VCDS cable - could it be you have the same ignition issue that logger has?

Nice to hear. I wish I could set 98 RON as the default program.

Pretty sure I worked out why my 98 Ron tune spontaneously stopped working without me switching anything. At some point I have had a fault in my Ignition switch that spat "Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent" messages on four separate terminals. When this occurred it appears to have interrupted power to the ENG ECU. Cutting the power to the ECU means the the APR software will default to program 1 when power returns. In a standard installation this is Stock mode.

So all I needed to do was re select the 98Ron program in position 2 and all is fine and beaut again. So a power interruption in the car resulted in the ECU reverting back to the stock program. While I was aware the 98Ron tune performance gains were missing and the car was driving like stock, I was not prepared to try switching it back on. I wanted there to be no doubt that I had not meddled with the switching in any way to cause the fault.
So nothing wrong with the APR Tune. The cause appears to be a transient fault in my car that had the undesired side effect of deselecting the tune. Happy camper again.

Not to mention if it was possible to log multiple sources with a single cable, I'm sure the VCDS software would be updated to allow such.

Thought as much, I'll leave that stuff to the experts

There are USB splitters, to share a device with 2 PC's (but only one at a time, not simultaneously).

You got me intrested now! I'm guessing you have a special VCDS type cable or method? I mean VCDS is a single USB output. How does 3 laptops help?
