how do u weld or bolt one up to the stock manifold on a 1.8T?

wanna run a screamer on a 38mm gate with like 17psi spring so it opens up on high psi.

    Screamers are great fun!

I would recommend getting an aftermarket manifold or having a custom one made.

Although you can weld a flange to the original manifold it would more than likely crack around the weld because the factory manifold casting requires a welding proceedure with appropriate preheating and surface preperation.

Have you seen just how small the factory ports are in the manifold? They are tiny and restrict power but enable quick response and boost.

            3 x the fullysicness!

I love screamers, there was a F6 FPV at the "drags" that was leaving the road white from the flames, i was like what idiot puts a neon there till i realised it was the wastegate haha.

You could weld the internal gate closed but i really would not recommend doing it, once its welded up you have to live with the results. Which may be more boost than it is tuned for, boost spikes and damaging the turbine and compressor wheels.

Your right about ebay manifolds, most are manufactured from thin walled stainless steel and crack!

I believe internal gates' are usually closed. So you dont have to weld it shut, it will just stay shut if the actuator is not operating.

how to leave the actuator not working?

i mite buy a used manifold and use a ext gate and try it..

If you disconnect the hose going to the wastegate actuator it will make a lot more boost. The hose sends boost pressure to the back of the actuator diaphram pushing the diaphram, rod and finally wastegate open. With the hose disconnected the wastegate will only open when the back pressure in the exhaust manifold is enough to push it open. This could happen at anything up 30psi even, but i wouldn't recommend trying to find what the maximum it makes is...

You seriously want to get an external gate with an internal gated turbo, just to have a screamer?

                      Thats pretty riced up.

you will just open up a can of worm with an integral wastegate turbo, dont do it.

I had a ZAGE external gate on my old subaru... even went past unmarked cops doing a lot more than the limit and they let me off.

Screamer only popped at 25psi so you can imagine the noise.

The best bit about a screamer is that if you have a high hp car... it basically tells every other car around you that the big dog has just come on boost.

Kinda a safety feature as people get the hell out of your way... especially cyclists
