What do you expect from a mild set of cams with no other work ?
You did no headwork , valves were stock , valve springs stayed stock , lifters were stock , compression ratio was unchanged . Your gains were small cause you spent bugger all . Do a big valve head heavily ported with some 276 cams and you will see a much larger improvement
So how come it cost $4k then??
What was done? Just a set of cams for 4 Grand ??????

Then why did you do the lower intake manifold? If the schrick that I have now is smaller than what the diameter is And you told me not to worry about the bigger cams and stuff like that anyway.
I think I could safely say that I spend alot of money on it in that one hit!
And for the money that I spent I could have gone the supercharger route as bang for buck and when the dollar was good that was the way to go and still is!
If you want a lumpy idle you'll need to do a solid lifter conversion
If you flinch at $4k+ then its not for you .
Also no point with ko4 , you'll need at least a gt28 to make the most of it
btw , your car will sound like a tractor
You don't even need cam's with a GT28.
Stock cam's will go way past 400hp. I've seen a 500hp figure on stock cam's.
Waist of money IMHO unless your going big!
I mean really big.
There are pretty lumpy hydro cam's out there for the 20VT & can make alot of power out of them! I've read report's of 700+hp.
The only ones I've seen with solid cam's are the high revving 20vt's Not so much the big powered ones. More for track/circuit use that need more consistant power.
Not for drag's stuff funily enough. But that's only what I've read & studied on.

Do you know what else was actaully done to the car ? The chip by itself was $800 , Cams by themselves were some $500 or so , I cant remember but Im sure the chains were replaced too . If we are going to discuss prices here then how about we also post up qualifications as well , since as far as I know the better qualified you are the more you can charge , right ?

What I meant was , there is no point doing cams on anything smaller than a gt28 . The gains arent worth the cost , when you go bigger all the more reason to do cams then converting it to solid lifter since your changing the powerband of the engine/turbo

it should be match ported
I told you not to worry about bigger cams cause you wouldnt have spent $5k plus on headwork to make the cams work properly
You may have spent a lot , but I told you you do this or you go forced induction , almost everything you do wouldnt work with a forced induction car so you wasted your money not me !

I never did that chains, on the VR, however it is still possible for FI I can use the Stage 2 from VF according to there emails I shouldn't have no problems however the chip I will need to redo
Its not really match ported you can actually feel a slight difference between the two channels being the schrick and the other the lower intake mani.
Anyway this is about cams for a 1.8T and not a VR I will start another thread when the time is closer to rebuilding my engine and also FIing it
hahahaha i would not put it past you lol, queen st could do it, ray just get a bigger turbo you wont want it lumpy, cause you will always be pulling over 200kmh.
