You'll never get it sounding "lumpy" without completely screwing the performance of the engine... Don't bother.

isnt large duration (greater overlap) more suited to NA, hence the lumpy sound?

dont say that guys. make me all sad. i think you need the corresponding work for cams to compliment.

If you want a lumpy idle you'll need to do a solid lifter conversion

If you flinch at $4k+ then its not for you .

Also no point with ko4 , you'll need at least a gt28 to make the most of it

btw , your car will sound like a tractor

What do you expect from a mild set of cams with no other work ?

You did no headwork , valves were stock , valve springs stayed stock , lifters were stock , compression ratio was unchanged . Your gains were small cause you spent bugger all . Do a big valve head heavily ported with some 276 cams and you will see a much larger improvement

At the end of the day the VR6 needs forced induction to perform . Some people will say a charger isnt worth the cost , a turbo is the way to go . But then how much are you willing to spend on driveshafts , clutch , gearbox etc to make it stronger . A pair of driveshafts for Courtneys car is $800US ! I wont even go into the cost of an 02m conversion !

You have to do the mods to suit the cams like Bug_racer stated, i spent up on a schrick 276 for my 1.8l 8v when i was 17 and didnt have any other mods apart from a 2" exhaust and 32/36mm webber at the time and i was totally disapointed with results. But a year later with everything done to it, it was a LUMPY LUMPY motor with heaps of POWER!

You can get some serious cams for the 1.8t but you need a massive list of mods to match them if its going to make serious power. And they are sooo expensive to
