Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

My mate has a bolt on manifold and turbo setup to bolt onto an 8v Motor. I believe it uses the Turbo from a Golf TDI. He will sell for $1000.

Have a read & look through this.
Ton's of info on turboing CIS injected cars

Some of my parts are here & more to come for my turbo 8v daily driver in the build.

      Basically
      - Volvo 240T(didn't get them in Aust. but can be found on ebay & vw
vortex classifieds) will require modified fuel lines as they positioned
differently on the fuel distributor head
      - Audi 5000T Warm up regulator or Volvo 240T Warm up reg (same as above)
      - Distributor vacuum retard canistor or MSD boost timing master to retard the
igniton as it comes on boost.
      - Exhaust manifold incl at least a 2.25-2.5" exhaust system, turbo of your
choice(recommend T3 incl. oil line supply & drain into the sump. Water
cooled turbo's not really needed but optional, just more pipes/hoses!),
intercooler(not really needed for apllications up to 6-8psi but I would fit
one anyway) & piping/misc clamps, gaskets, fitting's etc.

This setup should see approx 170hp+ on a standard 1.8 8v running 8-10psi

Hey Wabit i have performed such a conversion on my MK2 1.8 8v GTI, its not easy as far as tuning goes that was my biggest problem. I used a
          *wrx sti vf22roller bearing turbo
          *3" mandrel bent stainless exhaust
*custom mild steel manifold using 1 1/4" steam pipe bends
*800mm wide intercooler with 2" stainless plumbing
*MK1 GTI inlet manifold with a MK2 throttle body
Originally i recurved the dissy with retard on boost and a hobbs pressure switch to activate a fifth injector under boost, i had difficulty sourcing a larger warm up regulator and the engine leaned out in the top end revs. This setup saw 105kw atw on 10 psi, With standard internals and 10:1 compression. In the search for more power and frustrated i took off all the factory injection and fitted an EMS computer with EVO 5 injectors, with the dissy locked and an ignition module fitted the power jumped to 138 kw atw on 14 psi... I would recommend aftermarket injection
