Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Even easier, it's just textured aluminum sheet from Bunnings.

        • Did a coolant and oil change today and upgraded the oil cooler.

Oil temps have been hitting 120° so we'll see if this helps.

Old 10 row vs new 30 row cooler

Almost as big as a stock radiator!

Filling it up to prime the system.

The spoiler got damaged by some debris on the track, I've got a bit of work to do to fix it up again.

Otherwise a great day, pretty evenly matched field and perfect weather.

Just looked at the official results over on natsoft. I ran pretty consistent 2:09 - 2:10 sort of times today.

Don't think there was much scope for improved driving to pick up much time, that's about as fast as it goes. Analysing the log data will tell me if I could have done any better.

Haha! Some nice shots in there, starting to seriously reconsider my 'street car' project

Track just looks like so much fun!

                            • hey pete, i remembered you were using green-stuff pads previously.

                              two questions for you...

                              1. how did you find them performance wise? and would you recommend them for a street/track mk1
                              2. do you know what part no. or model i should provide when ordering them (i have mk1 gti front brakes)

                              thanks mate!

                              • Nope, using the Redstuff pads.

I've got a set of Greenstuff pads for GTI calipers at home, they're about the be fitted to a street car.

I'll look up the numbers and let you know.

Reds are great on the track, last well and don't fade, pulling -1.2Gs under brakes.

Was previously running Mitex Red Box, they stopped OK but they wore out so quick I was changing them every before race day.
