Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Had to re-wire a chunk of the engine bay loom today. Didn't want to hit the track again with who knows what going on in the loom.
Here's what I extracted the engine bay. The hot wire to the temp sender had melted everything together all the way through the loom.
A bit hard to see but the old loom is at the bottom and the new one just above it.
I removed the un needed glow plug wiring and added a tacho sense wire into the loom.
Still need to find another two pin temp sender or work out how to convert the dash to the more common single pin type. I've included new wires in the loom but can't connect 'em 'till I sort out the sender. Meanwhile the VDO temp gauge is working fine so I'll just keep using that.

Swapped out the master cylinder today, I haven't been able to figure what else could be causing my braking issues so out it came.
No pics, looks the same as before
Did find a lot of wear on my new Mintex Pads, they stop great but they're only going to last two meets by the look of them.
Also discovered why I've been loosing coolant. The pressure relief valve in the reservoir cap had rearranged it's own innards.
Next stop RobRoy Pity the Wavetrac equipped gearbox isn't back from repairs yet, I'm really going to have to tool up and get into box building myself.79 MK1 Golf Wreck to Race / 79 MK1 Golf The Red Thread / 76 MK1 Golf Kamei Race Car

Just back home now. Very wet today.
Lots and lots of tyre spin today. The pit area and the paddocks for the trailers etc. were all extremely slippery.
Mostly got video today but here's a few pics while I'm figuring out the video.
There was another VWCV golf out for a run, first time I think I've been in an event with 2 MK1s!
The aftermath involved a lot of mud. I couldn't even reverse the golf up to the trailer.
Getting to the trailer turned in to a motorkhana!
and a few shots of the clean up at the car wash on the way home.

Managed to get 4 runs in today. Not really certain what my times were, they'll be on line later, I'll look 'em up them.
I think the worst was about a 39s and the best a 33s.
Track conditions were about as bad as they could be and traction was a big issue for everyone.
I really needed that LSD today. I need to find another box builder that doesn't take two months to turn around a box repair.
Not sure which run this is, there's in car footage to follow.
