    • Meanwhile..

How's this for a couple of big lathes..

All in all, a good day. I'm worn out and sun burnt.. I was covered in garnet, dirty, hot, sweaty, dehydrated and smelly by the end of it.. But it was worth it. Definitely better than trying to use paint stripper.. And I don't even want to think about rubbing all that back!

True that! Tomorrow is time for seam sealer, sanding and bog..

I know I missed a couple of spots.. Those spots don't matter. And it wouldn't take the paint off where the seam sealer was.. So that's a job for me to do by hand..

            • That seam sealer is made out of kyrptonite nothing shifts it except brute force.

I think in places it was actually applied prior to spot welding adjacent panels together.

Haha i never forget the cream!!

Thanks, man. Feels good to have some motivation..

Yeah i knew you'd pick up on that.. I wasn't really ok with it.. But I wasn't under the car. Thankfully, if it slipped and crushed Steve's leg, there's a 5t gantry crane to lift it off. hahaha. :S

Picked up some bog, seam sealer, sand paper and wet+dry before the gym.. Quick shower and it's off to go seal, bog, sand, prime!

                    • Big day. Got a fair bit done. I was hoping for more.. But who doesn't?

The easiest way to remove the black acrylic paint turned out to be with thinners and a rag (oh yeah.. That's how **** it is). That original seam sealer is tough as nails.. Unbelievable. I ended up using the air grinder with a scotch brite type disc to get it off.. Which worked really well.

                      Onto some pics..

First up was the seam sealer, but I haven't got any specific pics of that..

Getting into some surface rust that was under the paint with some rust converter/sealer/primer.. It's pretty much the same as POR15, but a lot cheaper.

A skim of bog here and there..

                      This shows some fresh sealer..

And finally, while I was going I blasted my new gearbox mount and primed/painted it..

                      I'm wrecked.

Heat doesn't worry me too much. I mean, i went through 2 litres of water.. But it's ok. Better than working in the freeeeeeezing cold. I'll be glad when it's back to the mechanical stuff, though..
