    • ha, yea i'm guessing a little quaife number might set us back around AUD$2500 - $3000 for the ATB version.
I think there's prices on the TSR site for 020 and 02A etc.
Cheers for the radiator tips guys. I'll try the mk3 or VR6 one.
The S3 rad woulda been smashed into a million bits, and the water pump was damaged anyway

      • I was thinking i'll need the fuel pump outta the s3. I took it out of the tank and its a complex bit of kit.
Does anyone know if i can use it with the mk2 tank?
PS; there was at least 15 litres of fuel left in the S3 tank so i put it in mine and my girlfriends cars (she has a 1989 laser). I dunno what the hell it was but both our cars are running like rocket ships now and it was only about 7 litres worth mixd with our existing fuel!!!

            • Hey all. sorry for poor progress but it's busy times! Still sorting bits and pieces and deciding on what kind of look to go with, blah blah. Sigh, so many options
A few knocking and clunking noises tell me that the ol' beastie is starting to object to hard driving, so its time for a complete polymounts/bushes overhaul - seeing as tho its gotta be done to handle the 20vT anyway.
Has anyone got any suggestions/experience with any good brands to help me decide. Keep in mind its going to be a daily driver as well as occasional track weapon.
I'm thinking Vibra technics, super pro, powerflex, etc.
              Prices? Advice?

                • Cool thanks man!
Here's new inspiration i came accross in Vienna a coupla weeks ago. This car has me seriously considering keeping big bumpers.
Its exactly what i'm aiming for: OEM+ beautifully refinished but lower and wider, and underneath... 270bhp S3 power!!

                  Love it!

                      • Talk to GTI'S as he is in the closing stages of a MK2 20vt Conversion and he has done if very simplistically and easy...

it even sounds like a MKIV GTI When running (nice and quiet) lol

he can probably answer any curly questions you may need answered

Using QPEng plug 'n' play kit = 20vt loom slightly modified with QPE ECU.
This kit is easy and allows me to keep mk2 clocks and ingnition barrel etc.

Pics coming of the chop up! Was actually kinda fun

Really enjoying this buildup mate. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I remember reading on ozAudi about that crash but I can't seem to find the thread for it anymore. It's a real testement to the engineers at VAG that they can make a car where the driver can survive a crash like that.
It's good to see that the parts are going to good use (including my lovely spare wheel cover).
